Mercury Morris update

I thought 19 is a greater number then 17. How can that be equal as some are saying?

Because according to him, "A 1.000 winning percentage is what they're playing for." Since the 'Fins had a 1.000 winning percentage, it's impossible to pass that, regardless of the number of wins.

So I guess Babe Ruth's 714 home runs is better than Hank Aaron's 755 because Ruth did it first.

19>17.

The good part is that when the Pats go 19-0 we will never hear from Morris or the rest of the Fins again. ;)

It's just strange, really.

Coz when you play sports, you know records will be beat (or at least matched). It's part of what motivates many if not most athletes.

And for him to say the Dolphins weren't going for the undefeated season? As if that makes their record even better?? So who's to say that an undefeated season is all that's motivating the Pats? I'd suggest they'd be happy with an undefeated season but winning the SB was their primary motivation.

Of course, every team / athlete wants a perfect record. Just saying that the logic doesn't work. Then again, it's Mercury Morris' logic. Nuf said.

The Patriots will be there...ON teh street and as Talking Heads said "Burning down the House"... Morris is a loser BIG TIME!!

A sad pathetic little man.....:(

Well, I was listening in the car on the way into work. What a (word that rhymes with boosh)-bag. Honestly, they had to know going in that that was essentially what they were going to get from him, which is the whole reason they had him on in the first place - drum up controversy.

That said, he was worse than I think he's ever been in that one. Lucky for him I was stuck in traffic anyways, or nearby motorists might have been concerned about how ticked off I looked. The "second best team" nonsense was particularly annoying.

Well, Mercury, are we measuring by statistics or by wins? Because if we're measuring by stats, maybe the Pats wouldn't be the best ever, but the '72 Dolphins wouldn't even be close to the top. If we're measuring by wins, well, the Pats won MORE games. So in the end, what it's really time for is for you to go away.

Does anything these pathetic old timers say matter?

This years Patriot team would beat the 72 Dolphins 9 out of 10 times…and beat them handily.

Stay away from Mercury’s neighborhood. Way too many guns and drugs!

Bad analogy. What's more impressive, a batter going 4/4 in a baseball game, or 5/5?

9 out of 10?!? LMAO!

Their offensive line averaged about 250 lbs. Our D linemen are faster than Larry Csonka. 10 out of 10, and I don't think even the 72 dolphins would argue with that.

Ok...when we beat the Jets in Season opener, we should;ve claimed a 1.000 winning percentage, an undefeated season and called Mercury (aka URANUS) Morris that we finished with a 1.000 percentage.

What a crackhead doofus.....Should change his name from Mercury to URANUS, cause that fits him better :rocker:

i don't know if anyone else caught it by i'm an espn "insider" as part of my cable company and at the end of the interview i heard Mercury yell "Crack is Delicious!"

I think back then, they just chose players for brawn and speed; now they choose players for brains too.

Hahahahaha....

Keep telling yourself that, chief.
?????

Better teams certainly do consider brains as well as speed, power, etc.

Schemes are so complicated in today's game it is necessary.

The game has changed quite a bit in hte last 30+ years.

Again, keep telling yourself that. The vast majority of pro football players are still barely literate, if at all.

Huh? It is an excellent analogy. Clearly going 5 for 5 is more impressive. Weak example though. How about this one: what's more impressive, a team winning 2 games in a row or a team winning 19 games in a row? They both are 1.000 over that stretch.

Does anybody really care what that crackhead spews anymore ?

The 72 Dolphins couldn't stop the run. LoMo and Faulk would rip them a new one.
