Have you read the new John Grisham book "Playing for Pizza" ?

I just read it and while not really a book reader (I got it as a present) - I really enjoyed it. It is fiction about an American QB playing in the Italian (American) football league. It turns out there really is such a league up in Northern Italy. Have you either heard of the book or heard about the Italian football league?

P.S. To not totally hijack this thread - As on the last superbowl there were VASTLY more Eagles fans (due to their long drought) according to my friend who travelled from Denmark to the game but couldn't get a ticket.....I would expect the same now (with many more Giants fans). And as another just posted, there are ALOT of New Yorkers (or former New Yorkers ) around the US. Best we can hope for is to score early and often to shut them up!!

here is sunny too anyway today - plus 10 degrees celtius at the moment

i will see the Super Bowl on SKY in HD - not bad...

i hope really we will win it (a little bit worried about Brady foot...but there are 2 weeks to recover)

i remember when the Pats were playing against the Cardinals in Arizona there were really a lot of Pats Fans; so i hope we will be able to 'match' the Giants fans

I expect significantly more Giants fans, for the reasons mentioned above. I expect it to sound like a home game for the Giants, which considering the team has been far better on the road, plays right into the Pats' hands.

For anyone planning to put money on the game (which I certainly don't endorse), I expect a ton of money to come in early and often on the Giants, because there seem to be more degenerate gambler types per thousand in the New York/New Jersey area. By the end of two weeks, with all the TB foot stuff, etc, and Giants fans have time to talk themselves into a win, I would expect the line to be more than palatable for the Patriots.

Just like there were so many more Eagles fans last time, there will be many more Giants fans.

I hope the Giants become the fashionable pick of the next two weeks as well, because they are a dangerous team and the Pats can definitely use the motivation to stay on the 'us against the world' mantra which works so well around here.

I expect to see lots of talk about the Giants being the more physical team these next two weeks, with lots of show hosts jumping on the bandwagon.

Yes, in winter it is NOT at all sunny. Usually summers are sunny though.

Look out for the book "Playing for Pasta" - as is interesting talking alot about the 'education' of an American to life in Italy especially Italian food and lifestyle. Also of course talking about football and the (unknown) Italian league. Maybe a library will have it. It came out last summer '07

Our local bar also has SKY Sports so sometimes I go there for the NFL games when I want to yell loud. But also as NFL is so popular in Denmark, our local tv (cable) channel broadcasts the games live each weekend so I can watch it at my home. Only drawback is the local Danish announcers. But sometimes the Swedish cable channel carries the game and it uses the US announcers and blacks out the commercials.

it's mostly going to be a lot of corporate and media types who just want to say they were there, but i think that there will be more people cheering for the giants, whether or not they are real giants fans, simply because they want to see us get knocked off. i think the real fans will be split pretty evenly as it takes a real commitment of time, money and effort to score the tickets.

I would say more Giants fans. You have Jets fans who have probably crossed lines by now and are rooting for their 'new' New York team. You can also throw in New Jersey, parts of PA and DC which make up a greater area of viewers than New England.

yeah, but the tickets are distributed nationally, so that shouldn't make much of a difference. plus, it's more likely that pats fans in the area would have anticipated that the pats would be there and snared the available local tickets a while ago. let's face it, very few, if any, expected the gints to be there when the tickets went on sale.
