Rangers & Islanders; (3) Baseball: Check-mark- NEW YORK (1 point) Red Sox v. NY Yankees; (4) Basketball: Check mark - BOSTON (1 point) Celtics v. Knickertbockers and NJ Nets. Great job reminding everyone of the fact that NYC has two teams in all 4 of the major sports (assuming the NJ Nets had ever won a championship and made it onto your list.)

What have you done for me lately:
New millennium, BOS 5, NY 0

Considering your football teams play in a different state, wipe those results off your little list. And the Islanders, please....a two hour traffic debacle may get you to within 20 miles of "your" team. Might as well include Buffalo teams. And the Yankees... first you have to subtract their four most recent drug tainted championships.

The Nets won 2 ABA Championships as the New York Nets. We can add it.

The Yankees championships are no more tainted than the Sox. Think about it, the Sox and Yankees won titles in the "Steroid Era." By the way last season still is part of the "Steroid Era." If the Yankees using HGH and Steroids is tainted... what does that make Rodney Harrison HGH issue? I hate the Yankees... I am a Mets fan (I am okay with the Mets not winning a championship in a while... I am not a bandwagan fan). I do not choose a team because they win always.

I have absolutely no idea what the OP's post means. Is this some mathematical language I am unaware of?

The Giants play closer to NY than the Pats due to Boston... Don't have to wipe the results off... they play in Metropolitan NY. The Islanders are a NY team whether you like it or not. Don't be jealous because NY is a better sports town that can support many teams. When you listen to sports radio in NY you get a more national perspective. In Boston it is homerism. Boston is small time in everything compared to NY. It is no comparison. I am talking beyond sports. Sports in NY is not everything like it is in Boston. That is all Boston has.

What the hell does this mean? You have a larger population, that is why you have more teams genius. And last time I checked Boston has some of the best Universities in the world and has a massive financial district similar to New York not to mention that it's housing market is more expensive than New Yorks. I like how you claim that we are all bandwagoning fans and then say "sports is all we have" How pathetic is that nonsense? And WFAN is every bit as homerist as WEEI is. If a.m. sports talk stations is how you judge entire cities then I guess what they say about your public school system is true, because you sir, are not too bright. For someone who lives in such a "superior" city, you certainly sound insecure.

Red Sox have 7 world series titles

so it's 45 to 31 and you have twice the amount of teams as us? Not to mention that the Pats are about to add to that.

I'm fairly certain that despite the Yankees historical success, no one thinks of New York city as a serious sports town. Certainly not lately.

Who cares really? It is all in fun and everything goes in cycles. The sox went over 80 years without a championship and the city stuck by them. That is loyalty.

Titles per team:

New York - 5.45
Boston - 7.75

Numbers are fun, let's do this some more shall we? :bricks:

In all seriousness, wouldn't you people prefer to talk about the game rather than engaging in the constant Boston-New York "Let's whip it out and see who's is bigger" garbage.

Both states vote Democrat, isn't that what's really important? :D

Edit: I'm not bashing the troll, the thread in general is dumb. Both cities are extraordinarily blessed by having such committed fans and teams that win consistently. Let's just all be glad we don't live in San Diego, okay?

Not on a per capita basis.

You really should take the four New Jersey teams out of there.

Yes if we combine NY's 7 teams (and go back to the 1920's) we see NY has more championships than Boston's 4 teams.

But as far as championship parades this millenium are concerned, it is Boston 5 (going on 6), NY 0. But good luck on that whole "living in the past" thing..!!

I know right, he adds all New York and New Jersey teams in there? Why not just add the Sabres and Bills while your at it?

And I like how now it's "who cares? it's all in good fun" You were the one who brought it up and compiled your list, then proceeded to say that New York is a better sports town. Even your Name is meant to somehow hint that the Giants are a more successful franchise than the Pats, though I'm sure no one outside of NY in their right mind would think that. How many Championships do you owe to our head coach by the way?
