This was buried in another thread in response to PF1996, the ultimate Colts homer, but here the stats are for all to see.

Peyton Manning's lifetime playoff stats throwing to Marvin Harrison, Wayne, Clark, and Edge/Addai:
21 TD's, 17 INT

Tom Brady's lifetime playoff stats throwing mostly to David Givens, David Patten, Deion Branch, Reche Caldwell, and Jabar Gaffney:
25 TD's, 12 INT

And most importantly...
Tom Brady: 14 wins, 2 losses, 3 Super Bowls and going for 4 in 2 weeks.
Peyton Manning: 7 wins, 7 losses, 1 Super Bowl and watching Brady go for his 4th in 2 weeks.

yes. again this is what indy fans are trying to use to get us down now because they can't spin an argument that would say their team is better. if you really want to break it down even more, look at the numbers manning has put up in postseason games they have lost. last week he was pretty good, but before that he did not get his team enough points. shut out against the jets, 3 and 14 against the patriots, 18 against the steelers. those numbers are all way below the teams average points scored in the regular season. last year the colts won in spite of manning, he had 3 ints against KC, and was unable to get his team into the endzone against the ravens. he had 3 tds and 7 ints in the postseason last year.

ya know what's crazy but cool to me, a charger fan is, 6 of those 12 ints came vs my team even though we couldn't finish lol

I would take brady of manning anytime. very happy brady is our qb and not manning. we never would have won 3 sbs, and hopefully soon 4, with manning as a qb because he would have screwed it up in a big spot too many times. brady has a better killer instinct than manning . when it is time for brady to retire, he will be the best ever. but thats it, im done talking about peyton this season, his season is over and the indy fans just need something to try to bring the pats fans down because they cant watch their team again till august.

Can someone confirm this stat please :

Peyton manning (2004)

49 Tds in the 2004 regular season + 4 in the postseason of that same year =53 tds total.

Tom Brady (2007)

50 tds + 5 (3 jags+ 2 sdg) = 55 ....and more coming up in next game.

Do you have the numbers on Eli versus Peyton because I think Eli may outshine his older bro right now in post season winning percentage and passer rating.........???

I don't have the passer ratings, etc, but Eli is 3-2 in the postseason. They lost to Carolina badly at home in 2005 (season) and lost a close game to the Eagles last year before going 3-0 this year.

Manning's postseason record: 7-7
Manning's postseason passer rating: 84.4
Manning's postseason comp%: 61.8

Manning's posteason opponents' winning percentage (regular season): .728

Brady's postseason record: 14-2
Brady's postseason passer rating: 88.5
Brady's posteason comp%: 62.7

Brady's postseason opponent's winning percentage (regular season): .779

So, to summarize the above numbers.... Brady has put up better numbers, against better competition, and has won far more often. Only the clueless would even hesitate to say that Brady is the better postseason quarterback.

Eli is 3-2 in the playoffs, with an 83.4 rating. He's got 6 tds and 4 ints, and has completed 60.8% of his passes.

For the record, pro-football-reference.com is a good source for football stats.

Also 12-2 in the post season before Moss/Welker/Stallworth/Washington. The most recent loss came because our top 2 WR left or wanted to be traded/didn't want to play and we were stuck with making Caldwell #1. And we had to pick him up in like September because Branch woudln't play. Incredible.

And before Caldwell, our #1 was Deion Branch who is the same height and shirt number as Wes Welker.

As far as our #2 or #3, it was Troy Brown who's like 40 years old and one inch taller than Welker/Branch at 5'10.

Troy Brown who is seventy friggin years old and was drafted 1 pick ahead of Brady 30 years earlier (198th vs 199th overall pick).

And David Givens, our #2, is according to Google, "David Givens was a member of a team of anthropologists, linguists, astronomers, nuclear physicists, psychologists and materials scientists."

That was Doug Gabriel we picked up in September. We signed Caldwell fairly early on in free agency.

Manning is the Elway or Marino to Brady's Montana; there's no question that Brady is better and performs at a much higher level under pressure (just like Montana), but there's also no question that Manning (like Elway and Marino) is a great QB.

Not to mentioned that Givens introduced the term "isopraxism" into the English language. I think he did this while on injured reserve for the Titans last year. It means signing a big contract with another team and then not playing.

Wow, saw tonight that Brett Favre has a 12 - 10 lifetime playoff record.
Guess Brett is as much a media hype creation as Manning is. If you take away the 3 wins both OB's obtained during their one SB winning post season both Manning and Favre are under .500 for their careers in the post season. Amazing!!

I dunno about "media hype creation"; VERY few QBs in history have put up postseason numbers like Montana and Brady.

Sure, in his 5 Super Bowls, John Elway posted ratings of 83.6, 36.8, 19.4, 51.9 and then finally a decent 99.2 in his final game.

The thing about that stat is not that it's totally meaningless, but IMO if you have a super high passer rating it means you had a very good game as a QB but if you have a low number, it doesn't necessarily mean you had a bad game.

Plus the fact that Favre has played in 22 postseason games is pretty impressive in and of itself.

Perhaps, but in his first 3 Super Bowls (all losses, of course), he was 46/101, 669 yards, 2 TDs and 6 INTs. Those low rankings were quite indicative of poor performances.
