Anyone else surprised the Chargers did not challenge the KFaulk catch?

Anyone else surprised that the Chargers did NOT challenge the huge Kevin Faulk catch on 3rd and 11 in the fourth quarter. I was begging for the Pats to get the snap off quickly because I thought there was room for the refs to overturn the call.

If they overturned the Santonio Holmes catch in the JAX-PIT game towards the end of the first half, I think that the Kevin Faulk catch would have been ruled incomplete as well.

I'm glad the Chargers gave us a free pass on what was a game changing catch.

was a clean catch and they needed their timeouts. Faulks two 3rd down catches were they key to closing the 9:13 game clinching drive

there were multiple replays and the catch looked good, certainly not enough evidence to overturn.

I was a bit surprised...yes..especially since it would have meant a NE punt..I think a challenge would have been worth it at that point...might have GIVEN them somewhat of a chance..

They replayed the catch quite frequently over the Jumbotron and every time you can clearly see Faulks hand was under the ball.

It was a smart no challenge.

That was easily the worst (non)call of yesterday that I saw. Tripping is also a penalty, separate from leg whip. Whatever you want to call it, it probably should've been called. Not that I"m complaining or anything.

I think it was close enough to challenge because it's so subjective. Lord knows I've been surprised more than once by what the refs decide on those reviews. I'm not sure why they called a timeout the very next play, but the combination wasn't good. Use a regular timeout instead of getting a "double" timeout for challenging a play.

From what I saw, the second foot was down a nanosecond before the elbow came down OOB.

I don't remember the Chambers OOB catch specifically.

I agree. There were a few completions for the Chargers where my initial reaction was to yell at the TV and yell at Belicheck to throw the challenge flag, but at seeing the replays I was surprised to see that they did get their feet in bounds.

I went to NFL.com to watch highlights and remember the Chambers catch now. I remember thinking there was a good chance his hand was OOB before anything other than the one foot landed inbounds, but that they didn't show a definitive angle on it.

But yes, it looked close as hell, and I was annoyed at CBS for not giving us a better look at it.

I thought that the game was called well. I didn't see amy more holding that usual and there weren't any "guy was just about to get to the QB but was pulled down by the back of the jersey" type holds that you will sometimes see.

I have no issue at all with the refs after yesterdays game.

One of the reasons the game was so tense and enjoyable was that the refs didn't call the borderline stuff, and the coaches didn't challenge "just in case." So from a viewer's standpoint, I'm grateful. (And I don't think any of those potential calls/challenges would have changed the outcome.)

I saw that too, I was surprised Simms didn't catch it.

And shame on Jim Nantz saying Moss was accused of "hitting" that girl.

She got a boo boo on her finger. He knows better, I'm sure. Just totally irresponsible.

Jackson clearly had both toes down before his elbos hit. They showed a freeze frame on it on TV.

CHambers was out of bounds before he went up for the ball, and came down out of bounds. I suppose they could have called an illegal touch penalty, but what difference would it have made?

There were a lot of non-calls on both sides which is fine with me. I like to watch a football game, not a referree match. IMO, this was the best played and officiated game I've ever seen. The refs let them play, and didn't call ticky-tack fouls and make BS calls. The players played to the limit but did not make egregious fouls demanding a call.

If you watched the Giants game after, you saw the refs control the game with penalties, making huge swings in field position, scoring and momentum on the tiniest of fouls.

THe Pats-Chargers game was how playoff games were officiated before NaPolian "changed the emphasis" a couple years ago. I much prefer it to a blizzard of yellow flags.
