It's probably not as simple a question as it sounds... though maybe it's already been addressed on the Big Show (for you out of towners, DeOssie is one of the co-horts on WEEI's afternoon "Big Show" sports talk radio)

Obviously DeOssie's "lucrative radio career" is closely tied to the Patriots... but isn't family the most important thing? Wouldn't a father be rooting for his son to win the Super Bowl, putting that ahead of personal financial goals etc?

Zak DeOssie is of course a Brown University grad and a special teams contributor for the Giants (one the teams Steve also played for - including the SB XXV Champions)

Talk about a difficult choice. This could be his son's one and only chance to gain a Super Bowl ring... but this could also be his beloved Patriots one and only chance to gain football immortality as the Greatest Team of All Time, going 19-0 and having the Perfect Season.

This will likely develop into one of many national side stories... no matter what happens its all good advertising for Fred and Steve's Stake House

Maybe its already been mentioned and I missed it - but theory is one thing... this is the real thing and DeOssie's going to have to choose a side to root for.

I'm guessing Steve abandons his son on this one!

He's already said he's rooting for his son. Though frankly, I don't really care who DeOssie roots for.

Steve wins ether way but blood is thicker than water.:eat3:

Of course he roots for his son. It's a no brainer, despite his ties to the Pats and the Boston sports media.

DeOssie is one of my favorite to listen to or watch on TV. He's not going to let personal ties, whether its his son or his former team, interfere with him analyzing the Giants and Pats.

Why can't he play both sides of the fence......isn't that what most of the hosts on EEI do anyways?

he'll be rooting for his son, and I have absolutly no problem with that and neither should any of you.

He's rooting for his son, of course. However, on Sports Final last night he was already pointing out how several factors (can't even remember them now) favor the Pats over the Giants in the Superbowl.

He's rooting for his steak house

He said last week that he would root for his son's team in a superbowl although he thought the Giants had probably already taken it as far as they could heading to GB. He also said a Giants-Patriots matchup would essentially be a win win for him.

Anyone who has listened to beachball knows he has picked the horseshoes to beat the Pats for years.
He should cheer for his son and I wouldn't care.

Of course, there's really no decision.

On a less weighty note, my father is a life-long Giants fan who adopted the Pats as his local AFC team when he moved from New York to Massachusetts 40 years ago. So he's put in the hard time with both teams. Naturally, my first thought when the Giants won was "Who the heck does Dad root for?" His answer:

"It's no contest, I'm with the Patriots in this one. For the Patriots to have accomplished so much in such an incredible season but not finish it out would just be heartbreaking, while the Giants have already gone so much farther than anyone imagined they could."
