im not this guys biggest fan, and before yesterday, i dispised him. but after seeing him tough it out yesterday, i have a new repsect for him. he really played his ass off, and unlike players on his own team(LT), he played despite the pain and played thru the pain. and he actually played pretty damn well. i think he'll turn out to be a pretty good one.

and btw, the chargers were definatly playing around with the injury report last week. rivers was doubtful(25% chance of playing), but said all week he was gonna play and LT(not on injury report), didnt touch the field after one series.

LT is resting himself for the Pro Bowl.

Re: Hats off to Phillip Rivers

he played well considering but he's still a punk.

Re: Hats off to Phillip Rivers

I have a feeling that one of these 2, Rivers or Tomlinson, are going to be run out of SD. They don't get along, always in each others face on the sidelines, LT certainly does NOT have the FIRE of a Champion.

He sat stoic on the bench, even when his team was within striking distance.

Rivers battled tough Sunday, if he continues to zip it (his mouth and the ball) he may become a team leader.

As for L.T. lite...........

He's NO leader.
He's NOT an unselfish player
He Won't play thru pain

He's a LOSER! :bricks:

Re: Hats off to Phillip Rivers

Agreed re Rivers. That was a gutsy performance and I might reconsider my evaluation of him as a flake who ultimately won't get the job done.

I think leadership of the team already transferred from Littledainian to Rivers.

I dislike Rivers, but there is no denying he put it all on the line to play. If I were a Charger, Tomlinson would find a skirt in his locker tomorrow.

Re: Hats off to Phillip Rivers

Yeah you gotta respect Rivers for gutting it out yesterday. I do feel maybe his team would've been better served with Volek in the game but I guess we'll never know. I for one was glad it was Rivers - I think Volek would've probably given them more of a shot.

Re: Hats off to Phillip Rivers

I was very impressed by Rivers' performance.

Can someone explain why LT needs that stupid visor. i've heard because of migraines, but why only during football games?

LT re-injured his leg right at the start of the game. There is a lot of hating on
him but I for one think that if he could have possibly played he would have.
Nobody should question his heart as he is a damn sight better than a lot of
others that play this game.

I agree with the OP about Rivers. Tough dude. That leg was bothering him
a lot and he toughed it out. Volek might have been a better choice but PR
gave it all he had. Big Kudos to him!

Gates tried but was pretty ineffective. Tough dude to try though.

Bottom line: SD played a hell of a game and with TB tossing up picks they
were in a position to win the game if the offense could have jelled. Fortunately
for us three of their best players were damaged goods and they never really
had a chance with that kind of horsepower absent.

Re: Hats off to Phillip Rivers

Someone put LT on a milk carton

i have to admit too that i respected Rivers a lot after this game

yes: this time hats off to him
