NY Giants' Running Game and Pass Rush Terrify Me

Well, I tell you what, you give me Coach Belichick, and two weeks to prepare for an opponent he has already beaten this season, and I like our chances, BIG TIME, NYG pass rush or no pass rush. Yes, I do believe the Giants could make a decent game of this. Yes, they could win it, that is why they play the game. But, on the other hand, it also has the realistic possibility of it being a runaway freight train in favor of the Pats.

It's all about the second go round. Belichick is the master of breaking down film. And this time he actually doesn't have to guess how we match up against them,he knows because the film is 3 weeks old.

Since 2002 they've lost to the same team twice only twice. Denver 05 and the Colts 06. That statistic doesn't bode well for NY{although we already beat them once.} It just tells me our team is much better prepared by the coaches the second go round. I'm sure BB came away from that game thinking if they could do that game over he would of done this or that differently. Not to mention the game was in NY, where as it will be played on a neutral field this time. Imo the NY Giants can't play any better than they did the last game. I'm pretty sure we can.

And one of the biggest factors imo is the fact that Stephen Neal is healthy and playing. He's a cog and I believe our offensive line took a hit in his absence. It's no coincidence sacks are fewer and fewer since being reinstalled in the lineup. Our offensive line will handle their Defensive line. No worries there.

And about stopping the run? Are you kidding me? Jacksonville the #2 running game in the league held in check. Turner and Sproles? Check.

Last week it was supposed to be the Packers that would be the toughest matchup for the Pats because of their running game and skilled cornerbacks. The defense has been good against the run two weeks in a row and the red zone play is peaking at the right time.

Do you expect the Giants secondary to give Brady as many problems as the Chargers just did? The defense is playing better than it did in December, the running game has picked up tremendously, and I find it unlikely that Brady will have a repeat of today's performance. At least save the panic for next week.

Stop the run, and take away Plaxico. Those are they keys. Toomer and others have concrete hands

Giants led the league in dropped passes.

Yes they are on a roll, but Pats will have Kaczur, Neal, and K. Brady back who we did not have in wk 17, yet still lit them for what 35 ?

The Giants have a dynamic duo at running back, and our weakest area is run defense, especially if directed at our aged inside linebackers and strong safety.

What a crock. Do you even watch football?

To be honest, you're just ascared. As usual.

????????? When is the last time I ever over-reacted or had a hyper-sensitive reaction like a bandwagon fan?

I think you should check your facts and realize I haven't done that very often. You need to improve your reading comprehension, or at least learn to differentiate between posters.

I remember when Rams fans said the same thing about facing the Patriots again.

Food for thought.

Belichick was coaching that Pats team. Tom Coughlen is coaching the Giants. No parallel.

Tom Brady at QB for the Pats, Eli Manning for the Giants.

This game is going to be a laugher. Seriously. The Gmen pleyed us tough last time, but they were loose and had nothing to lose, were playing at home, and we were playing without a couple key offensive linemen. I mean, honestly, from a pure talent standpoint the Giants do not impress me at all. They do not have what the Chargers had today in Cromartie, Merriman, Phillips, Castillo, and Williams. They do not have anyone on offense that can take over a game. Sure, Plexico and Jacobs are good, but we have faced plenty of better offenses. I am not worried at all. The Giants defense will be so tired by the 2nd half covering our 5 wide sets that it won't even be a game. The Pats will roll these guys.

This kind of over-confident thinking is dangerous. Also, to those who say it's idiotic to respect our opponent's strengths, you can bet Belichick knows how good the Giants are, and is more paranoid than any of us are about the upcoming game.

Re: NY Giants' Running Game Terrifies Me

I was hoping for the Packers, but that's because they're secondary is suspect.

The Packers secondary is much better than the Giants secondary.

I don't think you were overreacting by creating this thread like a few people have said, but your very own post here highlights something: Bill Belichick doesn't post here. It doesn't matter if some fans are over confident or if some are worried. He is going to approach the game the way he needs to, like he always does.

We get to play armchair GM without having to work for the actual results. That's the beauty of being the customer rather than the salesman... although the salesman gets millions of dollars and a bust in Canton.

The Packers secondary is much better than the Giants secondary.

I thought so as well...the Packers DB's and LB's look better to me. The Giants DL is superior to the Packers. Plaxico is a pain and Eli is hot/cold.

Double Plastico, just like other teams are doing to Moss. Toomer has concrete hands. No Shockey either. We stopped their run attack in Dec...Jacobs was 17 for 65yds

Re: NY Giants' Running Game Terrifies Me

Relax.. I saw the Giants game and Brady was cool, calm and collected even when they were down 12 points.. Nobody was ruffled and they posted the win without much of a fuss..

BB will take away all their weapons.. Right now, Burress is having a great day and he will need to be checked ....

We can stop the run and let Eli prove himself..

I think it will be a hard fought game... maybe until the 3rd quarter... However, we will pull ahead in the final quarter when it matters the most and win !!

Strahan and Osi are beasts, and their pass rush is maybe the best in the entire league (while also being stout against the run)

Additionally, I have long thought Eli Manning is a pretty clutch performer, even in his second year he would have a clunker of a game but then in the 4th quarter turn it up and lead his team to victory.

To be honest, I am more scared of the Giants than I was of the Packers. Let's not forget, the G-Men led the Pats by 12 points deep in the 3rd quarter just a month ago.
get a grip:rolleyes: the pats were missing two starting offensive lineman against the gmen .the jags have a better running game then the giants and the d did a great job on them. the pats were more interested in breaking records that game .brady was forcing the ball to moss. he will be hitting the open man come superbowl sunday .

We're doomed. Too bad. I was looking forward to the game, but I can see with our "aged inside linebackers and strong safety" it is not wonder we ....

WENT 18-0

Jarvis Green can make the Giants a T-shirt:

45-minute men

.......and if they're up 3-0 in the first quarter on the Pats, will you repeatedly write "We ARE IN TROUBLE. BIG TROUBLE" again in the game thread?

I understand your concerns, but at this point, I don't believe there are any reasons for concerns with this Patriots team. They have won 18 straight games in every environment and against every type of opponent. These Giants are no better than 3 or 4 other teams we've already beaten.

Right now, I think our running game is on par with theirs. I think our O-line is better and Manning isn't in the same class as Brady. Our receivers are better than the Giants and our coach is light years better than Tom Coughlin.

What is it you were worried about?;)
