I’ve been studying SD quarterback Philip Rivers pretty closely in pregame warmups, and I’ve come to the conclusion that he looks like a man who simply doesn’t want to be here. Whether it’s the cold or the injury or whatever the case is, he doesn’t look all that pumped and jacked. Moments ago, he had [...]

Thanks Chris. That's some weird stuff going on out there. It almost sounds like they are preparing for a quick exit for Rivers. Interesting.

Then why is he active? Really weird.

Do you think the Pats spent some time this week on Volek? I do. :D

If the Pats can stop the Chargers O on the first 3 chances I believe LT, Gates and Rivers will all take the rest of the day off. That way they have an excuse if they lose.

the cold air here isn't too bad, but it can't be very conducive to his knee, especially for a San Diego player. If he gets sacked and/or hit, he'll really feel it.

this is gonna be a very interesting game!

I bet Volek ends up playing.

Hopefully he doesn't light up the Pats secondary like every other darn back up we've played.

Thanks Christopher,
please keep us updated as the tantrum progresses.

my sentiments exactly

I agree. Did Norv really think messing with the Patriots was worth a roster spot?

What if Volek has an equipment issue or something and needs to miss a snap because they have no time outs in the second quarter? What are they going to do. I guess line up their punter at QB.

now it sounds like he won't start at all.

if he's "warming up" and it looks like he doesn't want to be there maybe it's b/c he's not playing...

but i thought it was interesting that the 3rd String QB is inactive

what the hell are they up to

I don't know how serious Norv is, but when I was driving back from the store(about 10 min ago), I heard him on Baltimore sports radio proclaiming Rivers as set to start.... If so, I don't think Rivers can last long. :bricks:

Maybe Norv thought he could go when he said it, and that's the reason for the animated conversation?

Norv seems like too good of a coach to waste the roster spot.

They should call him Phillip Glass. LOL!

what the hell are they up to
the exact reason they are doing all this. hoping bb thinks the same 'what the hell are they up to?"

Well, make sure you understand this Keegs. I think you do, but just to repeat, Whitehurst was designated as the third QB, which means he can dress and play and not take up an active roster spot.

However, if he enters the game at any point before the start of the fourth quarter, neither Rivers nor Volek can return to the game.

The way they reported it, it sounded like he made the comments after field reporters noticed the limping and conversation (the limping report preceded the comments by Norv), but these days, it doesn't seem to matter what a coach says about a player's injury prior to kickoff...
