Most of us thought Indy was going to be the opposition this weekend but it turned out to be SD.

Most Patriots fans proclaimed BEFORE the Indy/SD game that this weeks game was going to be the REAL Superbowl when NE and Indy were expected to clash.

Now that San Diego is the surprising opponent,Is this still the REAL Superbowl? - or is the Real Superbowl as scheduled in 2 weeks?

Pretty much to sum it up is San Diego more of a threat than Green Bay or the Giants?

The Pats will probably destroy GB, if GB and the Pats made it there (and I'm sure Al Harris agrees with me). The Giants D would give the Pats a much better challenge. So this might still be the real superbowl.

No. If GreenBay makes it and the Pats, then no.
If it's the Giants and Pats in the SB then maybe.
If it's the Chargers and Pack in the SB then maybe.
If it's the Giants and Chargers then yes it is.

I'm going by the matchups I think most people would rather watch.

Absolutely not.

Green Bay is a real team. This wont just be a push over match.

I've doubted Green Bay all year, they just might be legit. As much as everyone likes to give Farve a hard time, I can see him picking apart our secondary. Maybe some Green Bay follower can give us some expert opinion. If not, maybe the Jaguar/Pats game was the Superbowl.

New England/Indy was supposed to be the "real" super bowl a few years ago, and Carolina gave the Pats everything they wanted and then some in the game, including leading the game in the 4th quarter.

Rams/Eagles was supposed to be the "real" super bowl in 2001. That didn't work out so well.

Packers/Niners was supposed to be the "real" super bowl in 1998, but John Elway had a little something to say about that.

Giants played the Patriots really well just a couple of weeks ago.

Except for the Seahawks, everyone in the final 8 this year has been an exceptional team in my opinion. Winning 3 of the final 7 games of the year is a ridiculously hard accomplishment, and I have no doubt that any of the 4 remaining is good enough to have it in them to have done so when we look back.

No...GB beat SD this year. SD is a pretender. Other than Indy, their 8 game run is based on a weak schedule. And don't forget, Indy has a habit of losing divisional play off games at home.

No way!! Green Bay is much better team than San Diego. Especially with Rivers and LT banged up.

Green Bay would provide more difficulty than the Chargers.

Also remember that Green Bay beat the Chargers in the regular season.

Goddamn, Marcellus Wiley just picked the Pats to win 42-10, so he would probably say no. I'm inclined to agree.

.

great point

I think I'd give the edge to Green Bay over the Chargers. Better QB, better group of receivers, etc.

Too bad for Green Bay the Super Bowl won't be held at Lambeau. :)

If the SB is indeed the Pats vs the Packers, who are you going with? There's no way a 1st year coach can keep up with BB (especially not on Super Sunday). If we win Sunday, this would then give Bill 2 weeks to gameplan for for the Packers/Giants winner. If the Pats make the SB the NFC shouldn't even show up.

Pats-Chargers is NOT the real superbowl because that would mean the SB is a foregone conclusion regardless of who wins the AFCCG, which is not true. If the Chargers pull off the upset they'll be far from the favorites against the Giants and especially the Packers. Lets not forget Green Bray already beat them earlier this year and has proven they arent a fluke team this season. IMO a Chargers-Packers SB would be even money and, come to think of it, that would be a great game from a competetive standpoint cause I have NO IDEA who would win.

Now last years AFCG was the "real superbowl" because most felt that no matter who won that game, the NFC team would get waxed in the SB, which is what happened. And if the Pats held on to win, you better believe the Bears would've gotten the same kinda beatdown.

Green Bay beat SD in Week 3 by 1 TD. That was a long long time ago. I think we match up better with them now, even injured, than back then. We would easily beat the Giants. Seems like we own any QB named Manning... seriously... Eli Manning has never beaten the Chargers (Ok, we've only played an Eli-led Giants once, but still).

But the SB is still not a foregone conclusion no matter who wins between the Pats and Bolts, so this game is not the real Superbowl.

No, this is no longer SB 42.75.

Only one two super bowls this year: us in Indy earlier in the season, and then in two weeks.

I agree with the posters who say no, the real SB is in two weeks, since I think both GB and NYG are quality teams. I fully expect the Pats to win out, but its going to be a game against SD and in the SB.
