With Malcolm Jenkins staying in school, if we decided to reach for a CB at #7 would you rather have Cason or Mike Jenkins? The only time I saw Mike Jenkins play was at the bowl game and he did not look very good to me, so I would lean toward Cason. I think that even Jack Ikegwuonu could be a better CB than Mike Jenkins but Ikegwuonu could probably be gotten in Round 2 of the draft.

From what I've been reading about the cb's in the draft. It seems like there are a bunch of good ones. But,no great ones. That's why I want my pass rusher in the 1st round. Because the dropoff to a pass-rusher in the 2nd round is probably a pretty big drop. Where as we can get a cb in rd 2, especially if we trade up who isn't much different than the top ones.

I agree 100% with patsfaninpa's thinking on this.

The point made concerning there being a number of talented CB's in this years draft is true, and I'd actually like to see NE draft two CB's within the first 4 rounds.

Also, I'll take Cason over Jenkins, if NE's making the pick.
I've seen the rankins, and I could really care less, as I think for myself, and go by what my own eyes tell me. Cason has ball hawking ability, and can be a playmaker at CB in the pros. That being said, I'd only expect Cason's selectiong coming after a trade down, as NE won't be in any hurry to "reach".

No comparison between the two. Cason KNOWS how to play the position, as he's been a CB since Pop Warner. Does he have enough speed to play at the NFL level seems to be the only concern at this time. I think he does, noting that Law and Samuel weren't exactly burners either, yet both have been technically sound players w/ excellent ball skills -- like Cason.

That said, #7 seems a bit early for ANY CB, as there are other CB options later on. Like others here, I prefer an edge rusher with our first pick -- hoping for a trade down.

If the price is right, would anyone here be interested in New England signing Nnamdi Asomugha, the Raiders best CB who is a UFA after the season?

Coming from the Rex Ryan defense I think he might make the transition fairly easily.

I do not know about any character issues, but I do know he doesn't get a lot of pick., Every game I have seen, he looked very capable in that defense.

In a freaking heartbeat. Third prize is Marcus Trufant (first being Asante).

Couldn't agree more, if they can sign him for cheaper than Asante, do it.

As for the draft, how about Aqib Talib out of Kansas? My impression was that he was one of the better CBs in the draft.

better corners? yes but he gets beat deep too often for my likings

I agree with absolutely everything that's been said in this thread.

(Sorry for the pointless post, but I can't remember ever agreeing with 9 consecutive patsfans.com posts before! :) )
