I thought somebody posted here once that McShay worked for BB in Cleveland. Can anybody confirm that?

He has us taking Mike Jenkins CB South Florida. I only saw them play one game and I really don't remember him standing out which is good and bad as they could have been staying away from him. The curious thing if he did work for BB is the write up on Jenkins.

Strengths: Does an adequate job of opening up hips, shows a second gear when tracking the ball downfield and has the long arms to occasionally tip away passes from a trail position. Is smooth when forced to change directions quickly, shows adequate burst coming out of cuts and flashes ability to hold own on an island. Times jumps fairly well and is tall enough to compete for jump balls. Active and can effectively bluff blitz. Has some experience lining up at safety, can line up over the slot or on the outside and is versatile. Has experience blocking for punt returns and can contribute on special teams.
Weaknesses: Bounces around too much and footwork is inconsistent. Hasn't shown great upper body strength, doesn't use hands that well and gives away the inside too much. Though reads quarterback's eyes and consistently gets into position to make plays on the ball, lacks ideal ball skills and isn't a playmaker. Fills hard when reads run but doesn't shed blocks well and takes poor angles to the ball at times so doesn't offer much in run support. Charged with misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and opposing or obstructing an officer without violence during the 2007 off-season and South Florida suspended him indefinitely so character is a concern.

The versatility is interesting but I find it hard to believe the Patriots would take a player who lacks play making ability and is bad in run support that high.

I understand it's a position of need but if he worked for BB I would think he'd know based off the description that he's not a NE type of player based on the weaknesses.

That can be pretty common for scouting reports. They tend to generalize at at times even contradict what they said previously. I think it's because scouts basically put down their freeform train of thought observations. Although the impressions are important, I tend to take the overall scouting grade more seriously.

He got spanked pretty badly in the bowl game. And his partner in crime Trae Williams (who I think could be better in the pro game) got abused on at least one long TD that I saw.
It may be a position of need, but I do not think we need to spend a first round pick on a CB. Because there is no blue chip shut down CB in this draft, I think we can pick up a decent quality CB in the 2nd, 3rd or even 4th round.

I would really like to see BB pick a guy that can be groomed to become a pass rushing beast in year 2 or 3. I think it is lacking on this team.

If Mimai takes C Long at #1, and BB used this pick to strengthen the DL or OL, I would not be too terribly disappointed in that move either.

I watched that bowl game and didn;t see anything special, but it's foolish to base anything on one game. BTW, Ochmed did you have a chance to check out Kentwan Balmer or Demario Pressley?
