Firepit recommendation

Hey everyone-

I'll be down at gillette this sunday. One thing i've noticed over the years is an increase in portable firepits. I'm thinking of getting one myself, but was wondering if anyone could recommend one. Here are the ones i've been looking at:

we'll probably just get a galvanized tub from home depot, pile wood in it, set it on fire and leave the charred tub behind.

that's what we usually do.

i don't know if i'd want to stand over a galvenized tub with a fire in it, zinc poisoning is pretty bad stuff... that is why they say never to weld things which are galvanized...

I like the first one, because you can pop the lid and cook stuff over it; it has a more campfire feel to it. I'm not a big fan on the chimneas, either.

Then again, I made a firepit in my backyard from stones. Yeah, I'm macho.

Just keep in mind how heavy it is and how it breaks down for transportation. I bought a cheapo one at ****'s three years ago, similar to this one but with 2 wheels on one side and not as nice:

expecting to throw it out after the first season and it's still with us. I think it was $50. It burned all of the paint off after the first use so it's taken on an oxidized patina. It's nice and light and breaks down into 3 parts (top, the screened middle and the base) making it easily stowed in a minivan/suv along with all of our other stuff.

I have a nice one for the home patio but it's too heavy and cumbersome to bring along on gameday.

I have the first one in my back yard, like someone said it gives you the campfire feel. Just keep the top off though, only put it on when you're done and heading into the stadium.

When we tailgate I actually use something different since that's pretty big to transport. I had an old BBQ smoker (looked like a trashcan) that I just use the bottom of, it's rusted through so I used the actual grills that came with it to make a platform and it works great. I bought one similar to the first one for general outdoor stuff from Target for $60. The first time we used it we had a slight rain sprinkle. And within a week it was pretty rusty. So I guess if you buy one make sure it is rust proof.

Ours has been rusty since the first use but it seems to stay at the surface. Nothing has rotten through yet and it's never really been taken care of. I could paint it with grille paint but it hasn't bothered me enough to do it. It's more rustic that way.
