Bat Boy to be ball boy at the Super Bowl!

Alien civilizations have been telepathically communicating plays to Peyton Manning through the spirt of Elvis Presley. More on this breaking story soon!

CIA leak provides documents revealing that Phillip Rivers is actually a CIA code-breaking genius whose cover is that he's a trash talking halfwit mediocre QB! Rivers responds-"I will f*ck you b!tch!"

Dumb post.

PFT has a better track record and more truth than Patsfans.com taken as a whole.

I second alamo's post.

This ALWAYS happens when something negative about the Pats is posted there, whether it was their original scoop or not. It's ridiculous, and I've said this before.

Do yourself a favor and avoid PFT at all costs. It's the National Enquirer of NFL-related media.

...with legitimate league sources who are right most of the time, and don't proclaim to be right much more.

I guess it is a personal perogative, if a person chooses to ignore one of the best sources for NFL information available to the general public. But it is a shame that many don't understand what the site is about. It isn't a daily newspaper, full of fact , it is a guy with a sh!tload of sources who reports what his sources tell him, he never presents the information in a misleading way - if it is a rumor from a source that he trusts he states it, and the opposite applies.

That's the best I've heard someone put the philosophy of PFT. Bravo.

By the way, I have seen it said here several times that PFT said that Moss would be released. That's simply not true. They said there were rumors to that effect and it was possible. Which is different.

Personally I like hearing rumors and speculation as long as they are identified as such, it's up to the reader to decide how likely they are to be true.

Dumb post.

PFT has a better track record and more truth than Patsfans.com taken as a whole.

Last night the estimable patsfans.com community managed to convince itself that the restraining order must refer to some other Randy G. Moss of Boca Raton, Florida.

PFT is hit or miss, but does break a ton of stories early and is particularly good on player contract info. You have to go in reminding yourself that a rumor is just a rumor, but the site is worthwhile for scoops. (Florio's attempts to pontificate on the actual game of football, however, are worthless.)

Thank you...thank you I'll be here all night.. try the veal.

:D

So it's not even remotely possible that "sources" could volunteer misinformation (or disinformation) to PFT? Like if someone wanted to create friction between, say, Belichick and the Krafts, it wouldn't make sense for someone to suggest that Myra wanted Bill fired or that because Bill won't talk about his contract, that he must be wanting to leave NE.

And it would be really, really irresonsible for "sources" to suggest that NE operates like a terrorist organization with individual cells performing various acts of espionage and related skullduggery.

Or maybe to stir the pot, no one would ever suggest that Randy Moss was about to be cut. Because no one would want to cause any tension between Moss and the team.

Because if "sources" were to, um, lie to Florio to advance their own agenda, then they would be using him. That could never happen because then, Florio would be, you know, a tool.

my reaction after reading the post is you gotta be shting me.

And he would most likely never post another rumor coming from that source. Isn't that how the whole credibility thing works in the media?

Do you know for a fact that Myra didn't want BB fired? I don't recall ever reading that New England operates like a terrorist cell on that site and nor do I recall Florio ever stating that Moss would be cut.

Does Florio steal your thunder or do you simply expect the Patriots to be off limits to the RUMORMILL?

That's exactly the point. Florio makes no claim to be a journalist. People know that he will put things in print that a responsible journalist wouldn't touch with a proverbial ten foot pole. That makes him susceptible to being used by other to float stuff that hasn't been (and in many cases can't be) substantiated. And I believe it would be naive to think that many people do not use him for precisely that purpose.

Such is the nature of rumor-mongering. Trading in half-truths and insinuations can be entertaining but you have to take a good bit of what shows up there with a grain of salt.

Some of it is patently absurd; that's why I stopped reading PFT months ago.

I check it many times a day. And PFT is continually changes. Florio's stature, sources, and credibility are ever-increasing. Believe it.
