"{Can Adam Vinatieri claim to be perfect in the playoffs? My son can ;o) }"

Gotta love this little stat that I guess only a proud parent would mention.

What an awesome post. He has plenty to be proud of.

I'm suppose to believe his father is trying to sell a 1997 Ford Ranger on patsfans.com? Come on.

It may be someone posing as his father but I definitely would not end up bying that thing if I found out he wasnt be truthful about who he was. so if that is his tactic it would take a sucker to bye the car from a liar..but i guess there are some dumb people out there.

I suppose anything's possible - but I had the same reaction as you.

Heck - I actually give the guy a little credit for creativity if he is posing as Gostowski's dad to sell it - though Gostowksi might not agree with me.

creativity = fraud

That's what I thought at first, but do a Google search for Larry Gostkowski and sure enough that's the name of his dad. Now a troll could've looked that up before hand, but why bother wasting the time looking up the name and writing that long post just to troll? Can you do an IP check?

The main reason to doubt the authenticity is that BB probably wouldn't want his players and even their families interacting openly on a message forum like this. Now they can post without revealing their identies, but to come out and say "Hey, I'm so and so, thanks for your support, would you like to buy my old truck?" is basically irresponsible. These aren't publicity starved Red Sox pitchers we're dealing with.

exactly my sentiments
i guess you never know though
is there any way of us finding out for real?

From Sports Illustrated:

STEPHEN GOSTKOWSKI PATRIOTS KICKER

The NFL's only rookie kicker replaces the man who won two Super Bowls in New England -- as fans keep reminding him. "'Where's Vinatieri?' I've heard every variation of that," says Gostkowski, who signed a four-year, $2 million contract. "I've advised myself not to spend a lot of money," he says, though he's made one splurge. "The truck I drove in college [Memphis], I had in high school. A '97 Ford Ranger with 150,000 miles. It could barely make it up a hill. People had autographed their names on it with keys." Gostkowski now owns a new Ford F-150 truck. "My dream car," he says.

I don't know if it's a scam artist or a troll, but at least we now know that Gostkowski did in fact own a '97 Ford Ranger. :)

Anybody could have read that story and then posted the info.

If it is Gostowski's father (which I really doubt it is), I would hope he would be a little more professional than talking sh!t about another player on a message board.

He may have better luck on Ebay.....:bricks:

My thoughts exactly.

But giving him the benefit of the doubt, I suggested that he put the truck up for auction and donate the proceeds to charity.

the Bread of Life would be a good one.

Yes it is true...Larry was given the truck by Stephen, and then decided he didn't want it any longer. I have seen the truck in person. Larry is real, and very proud of his son.

I just emailed him a few minutes ago once I saw this post...he'll get a kick out of it!

Drew Bledsoe gave me his old Mercedes a few years back.

So he would get a kick out of a post he supposedly made? LIke others said he was going to drive to the Boston area to sell the truck?...uuuhh OK, the truck that could barely make it up a hill according to Ghost yet he is going to drive it to Boston just to sell it? Complete BS.

Well I have to laugh because his description of the truck is very accurate. It has spent many hours in front of my office in Troy, New York when Larry and I would sit and talk while he was in my office. It was red if I remember correctly...was a year ago after all.

Seeing everyone with a skeptical frame of mind about his post was making me laugh only because knowing him for a few years as I have, that is exactly something Larry would do. While folks have no way of knowing if he is for real or not, I can only tell you that yes, the post was for real.

I am saying he would get a kick out of the fact that people are actually debating whether or not it is actually Larry making the post.

I've never met Stephen, but his father has spent many hours chatting in my office, and I remember him driving that old truck. I don't really have any reason to lie, and I only jumped in here to post something because I was looking up one of Larry's email addresses, did a google, and saw this post listed as a hit.
