this one of the key guys from Football Outsiders, really a knowledgeable football fan, and a key guy behind their advanced stats and game charting project. I know lots of folks on here don't like stats, you should listen to this guy to get an idea of his knowledge, etc.

maybe even better, Will Carroll is coming on after 11. he is an injury expert, and should give great insight into all key injuries coming into the game.

I like this guy much more than holley.

Started out by stating the Chargers are pretty beat up beyond the big three.

So his take is LdT's injury was likely not as serious as it could have been - painful when it happens but didn't swell too much and should be 95%+. Did question that he doen'st wear knee pads, which isn't very bright...

Gates is playing with a numbing block and steel plate in his shoe. Can't feel pain, so the risk is further injury and the numbness may have a slight effect but he's not as hobbled as we might think.

Big news on Rivers is it was his decision not to return. The quote he got from a SD employee was that his attitude was I'm already limping, what do you want from me... That was supposedly what he and Classy were "discussing". So he lied when he said it was a coaching decision. Will says his heart is more in question than his knee. Said his knee brace was pretty bent when the trainer was carrying it to to locker room.

Said he hasn't been able to ascertain much on the Hobbs situation :)D) - thinks it's not a serious injury but simply Bill making the decision to go with 100% of Gay over 85% of Hobbs a little gimpy. Said Lorenzo Neal was a similar decision for Norv last week - probably at 75% and his backup played well so will be interesting to see if he goes this week. Hard for the big guys to get in game shape off a month long layoff.

Darn, I tuned in just in time to hear them talking about baseball and the Mitchell Report :(

I wonder which players he's talking about. Certainly one of our intangibles is not just HF but all the travel the Chargers have had to do plus the extra game they had to play.

Not sure about Gates, he didn't do much against Indy against a defense that's ripe for a TE to have a big game. I expect Rivers will play but his knees may cause us to get an extra sack or two.

Does freezing cold weather exacerbate sprains, etc, I wonder

I'd imagine it makes playing with braces a biatch... and if you go down, that ground feels a lot less forgiving.

He said that the Chargers are just pretty beat up in general after playing two close games against hard hitting teams in a row. Said while Indy's defense didn't get the job done, they still got in some big licks from their faster but smaller D along the way. And the Tennessee D got some in too. That's why Norv is giving them 2 rest days - scheme won't matter if they can't stay on the field or play for 60 minutes.

In all honesty, I think that Tomlinson and Rivers will both be playing with a knee brace on. And I don't know if Tomlinson will be as good because of it. If Tomlinson doesn't play with a brace, he's asking for an injury tthat will be more serious. I hyper-extended my knee and, two weeks later, blew it out when I went to make a cut while running. I hope Tomlinson is smart about it.

They will be worn out by our Big O and D line. 42-13 Pats in a blowout

Schatz is great. Arnold is painful.

Holley/Schatz would be the best. Holly is really the only plus host on the entire station.

I'm not trying to talk smack here, but I truly think that if Tomlinson is less than 100%, the Pats D might well dial up the Marshall Faulk package (i.e., someone hits LDT on every play) until he's no longer a factor.

I honestly can't think of another major city with worse radio personalities. Other than Ordway, who is just OK, you have a bunch of whiny no-talent bozos.

Holley is very good. I don't see what people have against him.

And giving mention of Ordway as if he has any talent whatsoever?!

From what I've heard, I agree..Holley is by far the most well informed as well as the most objective host on the station. Ordway and the other guys on the big show are just waaaay too loud and obnoxious, its a bunch of dudes interrupting each other and yelling.

Holley is an Ohio dufus...

If you don't like Michael Holley, I don't really see how you can like anyone. He is well-informed. He has a terrific memory and avoids hyperbole. He actually takes the time to ensure an opinion is validated by the facts. He avoids interrupting and bullying callers and guests.

Sure he wears his OSU love in his sleeve, but what is wrong with that? It isn't like he brings them up all the time, just when they happen to be relevent.

How anyone could like any of the other guys, I just can't figure out. D&C know absolutely nothing about anything and just push hotbuttons the entire time, taking the most controversial position any time possible. The Big Show are just a bunch of blowhards that stumble all over each other all day and rarely have anything to say of note, aside from DeOssie. I'm not even sure that Adams even knows what a football looks like. Seriously, I give these guys chances on occassion just because I want to quench my Pats thirst and the invariably drive me away despite my interest.
