Thoughts on Pats-Chargers AFCCG

It is 100% impossible for some Chargers player(s) to not say something incredibly stupid this week and seal the deal.

"Act like youv'e been here before"

you have, you lost badly. I've seen this movie before.

That's correct. I also think it's highly unlikely the Bolts will have the same defensive game plan the Jags did last night. If SD lets TB go 26/28 it will probably be a long day for SD. I think SD will have essentially the same game plan they had in the last post season game.

 Good luck with that. We made some offensive personnel changes during the last offseason, in case you hadn't noticed in week 2...

I think the Chargers grew up a lot today. I still don't think they'll win Sunday, but it's hard not to be impressed with what they did especially with all those BS calls Polians Ponies got.

Maybe, maybe not. They didn't self destruct when the calls went against them, but then the Colts played a piss poor game and gave them every reason to believe it could come down to the 4th quarter even on the road.

And in the end Manning lost his poise and became frustrated and impatient and reverted to form - the QB who doesn't trust his defense or his running game or his kicker and wants the ball in his hands game plan or situational football be dammed. Rust and ego killed the Colts on both sides of the ball.

The same one they used in week two?

Yea, but seriously. These are 2 different teams. In week 2 the Bolts made a ton of stupid mistakes and took themselves out of the game early. The Bolts have been quietly going about learning how to play and we'll see if we've learned enough.

No doubt NE should be favored. But no team is invincible. Naturally I'm a homer of sorts but I wouldn't be shocked if the Bolts beat NE. I'm pretty sure the team will be highly motivated.

We'll find out soon enough if we've got enough game to give the pats hell.

A major weakness that the Bolts had was their big but not explosive WRs. Acquiring Chambers at least give you two WRs, somethng you didn't used to have.

But if you hadn't noticed the Patriots have assimilated a few pretty good players as well. AD, Moss, Stallworth, Welker. Lomo and Meriwether look to be catching on with graduating to the big league.

Welcome to frigid Gillette.

Not only do the Patriots have an extra day of rest but the Chargers have to fly from Indy -> SD then from SD -> NE. You've got to factor that in.

Meh...I disagree. It's hard to win up there. The officiating, the fake crowd noise, the Colts....everything. It's no easy task.

Yep. The level of difficulty has just increased almost exponentially.

I thought the Chargers played one of the gutsiest most courageous playoff games I have ever seen. Two big guns on the sidelines, many others hurt or out, playing in the Dome home of the SB champs, getting crappy ref calls, and you beat them.

Great job.

Better bring your mittens to Foxboro. It will be cold. :D

You guys played maybe one of your best games today, but you still had quite a few mistakes and got some key Colt turnovers. The Pats do not turn the ball over, and you'll need to play way better than today to beat the Pats. There were times when both teams today shot themselves in the foot and gave the other team an opportunity to run away with it. You certainly have the talent to perform better than the Jags, I think, but even if you've improved as of late, I am still yet to see a Chargers game without a bunch of mini-meltdowns and immaturity.

I think that nexr weeks game will be a tought hard fought game however I just don't think that the Chargers have what it takes to hagn with the Pats. Theymay be able to do it for a while. I say this because I don't care if LT,Gates or Rivers play.

Cold is alright and I hope the wind is gusting at 30-50 mph. ;)

I think a critical variable is not only the physical nature of the SD v. Indy game but also all the travel.

After that battle today, I think the last thing you wanna think about is two cross country trips...actually three if you include them getting to Indy on Friday.

Flying home battered and then flying back in less then a week is almost as daunting as the prospect of having Turner as your coach versus Belicheck.

Needless to say I like our chances despite our very lackluster and somewhat aged defense.

Wind would definitely help even things up a bit but I'm not ready to give the edge to a gimpy SD running game against NE's running game which has been coming together as of late. Especially with how geared up your boys will be to try and put Brady on his back. Plenty of opportunities to run against an over eager pass rush.

Should be a great game regardless, but I do think that the Chargers' best chance is to play off of their emotions over the week 2 embarrassment. They're an emotional team, to a flaw if you ask me, but it has served them well.

If their emotion is squashed by halftime I don't think they come back.

I'll be there yelling my brains out.
