The Jaguars' streak of 11 games scoring at least 24 points ended yesterday. They played some pretty good defenses during that streak in Tampa Bay, Tennessee, Indianapolis, San Diego and Pittsburgh (twice). Maybe the D wasn't as bad as we all feel. It looks like Jax can make some plays on offense.

We beat a good team last night. No doubt about it.

I'd like to know from those other games how many true offensive possessions Jacksonville has had though before I use it to draw conclusions about our defense.

Our best defense last night was our ball control offense. Jacksonville had 6 true offensive possessions. (They had 8 total -- but one was the one-play drive that ended the game and one was the short series with 45 seconds left in the first half.) They basically got 2TD, 2FG, and turned it over 2 times in those 6 possessions.

I think the Pats decided they were going to take away the run and allow the short passes. I think the Jags knew this is what was going to happen and game planned accordingly, knowing there was a very good chance the Pats would succeed at stopping the run.

the criticisms on this board are outrageous.

next week they'll be complaining about not stopping the run because the pats are in the nickel package.

It is that simple, but people want to find fault and make it more complicated.. focus on Thomas being "absent", Seymour playing poorly, LB's too old on and on and on.. it does get boring.

Haven't you heard? Belichick doesn't know what he's doing. This team can't execute. If the posters on this board were allowed to coach this game, it would have been a 52-0 blowout. Make no mistake, this was a pathetic showing.

They held them to 20 points and 80 yards rushing. Mission accompllished. This isn't about style points. I thought they did a great job.

The only thing that concerned me was that a few times the Jags receivers were too open. Belichick alluded to some mental breakdowns, so they'll focus on those.

The D was in a tie game going into the second half. Then they shut it down to allow only two FGs.

I'm sorry, but two FGs for a team like the Jags says that somebody on our D made some plays.

I think in the heat of battle we don't realize the context of all those individual plays. They don't all work, but hell, six lousy points in the second half? It worked. It just plain worked.
