Patriots outmuscled the Jaguars

Ironically, the Pats outphysicalled the Jaguars last night.
The O-line was absolutely dominant, and it was LM who dominated the running game.

Clearly the Pats strategy on D was to focus on stopping the run..which they did...this is why they gave up a bunch of passing yards.


The O-lines dominance and GREAT hard straight ahead running of LM, make this offense well set up against either the colts or bolts next week.


It would be nice if at least one Jags player had the class to congratulate the Pats and give the team their due...but I have not heard it yet. I think its because the Patriots beat the Jags at their own game

Yes, since the Jags made the big deal out of how "soft" the Patriots were it seems like the manly thing to do.

Maybe they won't because they are afraid to face the reality of what it means. No, you are not the only guy in town that can smash people in the mouth. No, you can't play the Patriots and expect to get a soft, mushy passing game only. Face the facts - the Patriots have a complete offense.

They could have congratulated them after the game when the players meet in the middle of the field, you don't always have to do it during a press conference.

It is my observation that Del Rio made a choice between one of two poisons, the Jags could either lose while maintaining their dignity or lose like the Redskins in a humiliating blowout.

Del Rio chose to lose while his team could still hold their heads up.

That is why no blitzes and everyone dropped into coverage with Randy double and triple covered.

While this approach did allow Maroney to have a big night and it forced TB to dink and dunk his way down the field but most importantly it also kept the Jags with hope until the end of the game.

This strategy also put the Jags the best position to take advantage if the Pats screwed the pooch.

This observation was further supported by what Del Rio said in his news conference right after the game "unfortunately Tom Brady did not slip and fall on the way to work today" or something to that effect.

Del Rio knew this strategy would not win the game for the Jags but it had the best chance to keep the possibility of a win in sight the longest.

If i remember correctly Del Rio's strategy was proved correct when on the only all out blitz of the second half TB scooted away from the pressure to his right and hit Stallworth for a 53 yd gain.

Give Del Rio some credit while he knew he could not win with this strategy he did manage to preserve the dignity for his team by preventing a humiliating blowout to end the season, which would have said to the Jags players and their fans they the Jags did not belong on the same field as the Pats.
