Laurence Maroney - The kid lit up the Jacksonville defense. 22 rushes for 122 yards, 1 TD and 2 receptions for 40 yards.

Tom Brady - 26/28 for 256 and 3 TDs. Damn near perfect.

Donte Stallworth - A key 53 yard reception basically sealed the game.

NOT:
Kick return team - Jackson averaged under 20 YPR. Part of that is him, but part of it was the blocking, or lack there of.

Pass Defense - The corners seemed to be playing too soft on the Wideouts and the coverage underneath was exploited all night long.

Refs - (only half joking since I needed a 3rd) Missed Facemask call on Terry Cousin. BS call on Samuel for a late hit. BS call on Neal for a chop block.

I think you're searching for negatives.

All season teams have played the Pats close in the first half at times(minus the blowouts), then the Pats pull away in the 3rd quarter(i.e.- Giants).

We all know who was great tonight. Brady had a legendary performance. Maroney had a great game, the whole offense was excellent tonight.

For the bad?

Randall Gay and several others. Piss poor pass coverage, especially by Gay. Also a couple of personal fouls on Rodney and Samuel which really could ahve hurt.

Chad Jackson. Lame kick returns, rarely got past the twenty yardline. All the kick returns stunk..including Willie Andrews. I think he may have been returning because Hobbs was a little banged up and they didn't want him doing anything other than defense.

Other than missed fg only gripe is secondary play. And, they did play much better in the 2nd half.

McDaniels - One of the most imaginative gameplans we have had all years. McDaniels has finally figured out ways to get Maroney the ball to the outside.

I'm just grateful Chad didn't fumble a kickoff. He only returned kickoffs in one game all season vs Pittsburgh. Throwing him out there in a playoff game showed alot of confidence in him. He didn;t help, but he didn;t hurt the team with a young player's mistake due to overaggression and a desire to make a play. I'll give him a pass.

Not-Asante Samuel fro me. Gay was beaten as bad as Samuel was tonight. Asante didn't have a very good game at all. Go back and watch teh replay of the game. You wil see!

Front seven - Shut down the rush, forced turnovers, and kept the pressure on when it mattered. Everyone here played great against a great offense.
Randall Gay - Not a great first half, but two big plays to force FGs instead of TDs in the 2nd half.

Somehow, I knew that was going to happen.

Probably because kicking from around that distance on the hash seems to be his "blind spot". It looks like he overcompensates the angle...basically just aims it instead of letting it fly.

Brady, Welker, MARONEY, Stallworth, etc.... the no brainers.

Thomas - I thought he quietly played a good game, got pressure on the QB, ultimately Garrard made a lot of great plays to get away from it, but AD did his best to make the absence of Colvin more bearable.

Meriweather - He seemed active, had some monster hits, and broke up a pass on the sidelines in the 4th. He's played great down the stretch, particularly at the end of games.

I think lots of people watching the game were asking themselves where the Jags defense was...particularly on pass coverage. Ask Moss. He took a CB and a few friends with him every time he ran a route.

The Jags committed so many people to turn and run with Moss (and Welker to a lesser degree) that every other part of the defense suffered. They asked the 4 guys on the DL to get to Brady (no chance) and contain the run with limited to no support.

Sorry, but 19 yards per return would be amongst the WORST in the league. Hobbs, Welker and Faulk did not muff a return all year either. Also, You, like many other people, forget the MAJOR part of the return is NOT the runner, but the blocking. And it stunk.

I did not say that the defense was SOFT. I said the CBs were soft on the WRs. And, I'm sorry, if the Pats CBs are playing 10 yards off the WRs on 3rd and 5, then the other team deserves the 1st down every time.

I wasn't searching. And its pretty funny that Mike Reiss said much the same I did about the negatives.

The penalty on NEAL was BS. He hit the guy from the side, but the guy was NOT engaged with another blocker. He was trying to go OVER Mankins, who was already on the ground.

Who's Hot:

1) Everyone on offense - almost literally perfect.
All meaningful drives end in TDs, except 2. If TB sustains (or someone else picks up) his block, then Welker scores on the reverse. Phil Simms - and probably Welker - knew it at the time.
And the only play-call on which I completely disagreed with Skippy was the 3rd-and-1 incompletion to Welker. I know that Wes should have caught the ball, but the correct call would have been a Maroney run behind Heath Evans. It also would have killed another 2 minutes off the clock.
On the other side of the coin, hats off to Skippy for the 1st-quarter pitchout to Maroney on 2nd/3 when Evans rushed inside. I've been waiting for that play all year. Metaphors, et al. have suggested that some running plays may have been saved for the POs, esp. those that put LaMa in space. A FB in front of him more often would help too.

2) Kickoff coverage - Maurice Jones-Drew was a complete non-factor (12.2 ypr). Not coincidentally, Spann and Ventrone were not activated.

3) Run defense - Jax couldn't really get rolling there (3.6 ypc, long of 15), but they didn't have to depend as much on the running game, which brings me to...

Who's Not:

1) Pass defense - No pass rush (one sack) plus soft coverage (7.9 ypa). 5 of 8 drives lasted at least 9 plays. Only one 3-and-out. (The other drives were the sack/fumble and the End of Game.) The Miami Stomper drops another INT. Rodney is flagged for two PFs, and drops an INT in the end zone. This is unacceptable, and will not cut the mustard vs. Green Bay.

2) KO returns - Chad Jackson looked tentative and uninspired. Why wasn't Wilson activated instead of him? Andrews' one return was for only 13 yards, but maybe if he had returned all of the KOs, he might have found a groove and possibly busted one. The blocking was also surprisingly weak.

3) Gostkowski - a missed 35-yarder, and only 2 KOs out of 6 in the end zone (one TB).
