For people who see Mcfadden run, does he use the O line well and run up right with power and agility to spin into open creases and spin moves?

Corey at his prime was known for doing that he also has break away speed, so even if you load the box he was still be able to gash you for huge runs.

If Mcfadden can be similar to correy dhillon then I do see the pats draft Mcfadden if he falls to the 7th slot.

Nothing at all like Corey Dillon. He is an outside type of runner that I think will be nothing special in the NFL b/c he has a high center of gravity and can't get the tough yards. Pats wouldn't take him at 7. Unless we're talking about Barry Sanders, high picks on rb's are not good value.

adrian peterson is not good value?

hoping your next 6th round qb pick turns out to be brady is value?

He's not even close to the type of RB Corey was. Dillon was a sledge hammer who punched you in the mouth, and delivered one of the meanest stiffarms the NFL has seen. Over the first half of his career he was also able to break the long one, a combination (homerun ability & hard nosed running) that isn't very common.

I think McFadden's talented, but he doesn't make sense for NE, considering they already have the 22 year old Maroney who's fast, great in space, and has developed a nice between the tackles game, as well.

there were so many maroney HATERS early in the season. Saying he is weak and he won he holes. Saying he is not tough as nails and even the mention of him being tough as nails is a travisty.

Well Mcfadden could be the same case? Is mcfadden a curtis martin running back? because if he is then I do see the patriots taking him.

Cutis martin was verry good.

I have been a huge fan of Maroney, along with many others, and have argued strongly against those who wanted to draft McFadden. But this sudden swing in public sentiment against McFadden is foolish. McFadden is an elite talent. If he goes to a team with a decent O-line he will be a huge success in the NFL. His pad level is fine. He has room to develop physically, just as Maroney is still doing. You can see Laurence has gotten bigger and stronger and will continue to do so as he reaches his physical prime and disciplines himself. LoMo was a souped up 6' 218 last season, now he is a natural 6' 220 and next year will reach ideal 6' 225 while keeping his speed. mcFadden is 6'2'' 212 and soon enough, with proper coaching will be 225. His lower body is very powerful despite its slender appearance. The only concerns I have about McFadden relate to his judgment re: agents and bar fights. Stupid stuff with 50 million dollars on the line. Not that I mind bar fights, just it makes me think he may be a dunce for risking his future.

There isn't any swing in my opinion. I've been on here saying there was about a .5% chance of McFadden becoming a Patriot in 2008. I've argued with those suggesting his selection, saying it didn't make sense as NE already has Maroney. I also think he has thin legs, and a WR's build. That doesn't mean I think he sucks, as I've said he's very talented, but I simply can't understand why so many Pats fans were all over his jock.

My saying he's not simular to Dillon isn't an insult either. I simply think his running style is much different. Unlike some posters on this board, I've been a Corey Dillon fan for a very long time.

You definitely aren't one of the people I was talking about. As far as Dillon goes, I am higher on Dillon than anybody I've ever met. If he had played his early years with a decent team I think he would have gone down as a top 5 rb in NFL history. He had as much natural talent as Jim Brown.

Darren Mcfadden is a tougher version of Adrian Peterson, if you call what adrian peterson did this year nothing special then you are one high mother! I'm calling it now in the long run, Mcfadden will be better than peterson.

Ill take that bet aby day of the week. McFadden will be a bust.

This is absurd. Peterson runs like a mad man, refuses to go down, and likes contact. While McFadden's a very talented player, I wouldn't say he's even close to being a "tougher version" of Peterson.

Ha, I guess we've got a simular opinion of Corey then. I thought his combination of really tough between the tackles running, nose for the endzone, and homerun ability was something rarely seen, even at the NFL level. I don't know about his current standing, but I know at one point he was either the only RB, or one of only two RB's to have two of the top ten one game rushing outputs, and he used to hold the record for most yards in a single game.

Some people might not know this, but Corey was also a very good baseball player, who could send the ball screamin'.

So yea, I'm a fan. Heck, I even got his McFarlane, lol!

S. Alexander of Seattle looked like a beast as well when he was running behind Hutchinson and Jones all day. It is easy to look great when the first guys hitting you are secondary guys.
Take Hutchinson out of the equation and Alexander looks like a hollow shell of his former self.

It is not different with Peterson. Take out Hutchinson and Peterson is still a good back, just not nearly the back everybody thinks he is. AND not nearly the back that McFadden is.

Really, people can believe what they like, but from what I've seen McFadden shouldn't be considered a "tougher version of Peterson". The point being from what I've seen Peterson runs tougher than McFadden. That doesn't mean McFadden can't be a great NFL back, just that I believe people shouldn't be giving him that particular tag.

I didn't mean to make it sound like Mcfadden is a tougher runner or person only that peterson has had a couple injuries in college and now one in the pros and Mcfadden has only dealt with a toe injury in the offseason that was healed before the season started. Trust me I love peterson he was on my fantatsy team this year and was a beast but I believe Mcfadden will have a longer less injury prone career.

A lot of the comparison will depend on who drafts McFadden. Peterson couldn't have gone to a better situation in Minny with Hutchinson and Birk on the OL.
If Oakland gets McFadden, then maybe things don't look so good running behind that OL.

Does Mcfadden have the running style to run to the inside, and run with the OL?

Corey Dhillon in his days with the bengals, was very nice to watch. If Dhillon had Brady as QB and a 4 WR spread formation, he would run over every single Dline in the NFL.

Can Mcfadden do that?

Run inside and outside? Yes he can. I've seen him run. McFadden absolutely gashed National Champion LSU. He was running it inside and outside all game long. They had nothing to stop him. Keep in mind that potential top 3 DT Dorsey anchors that LSU defensive line.

When McFadden runs it inside he looks like a knife. He just slams in there, takes whatever the defense gives, and usually gets large chunks just because he's getting to that hole so hard and fast. When he runs it outside, the defense better be on its guard, because given a little daylight he can take it to the house anytime.

I wouldn't compare McFadden to Dillon because I think they are different runners. I will say this though, McFadden is extremely explosive in ALL facets of the game. I would say if you want to make a comparison, this kid could be the next Marshall Faulk.

And for those who criticize his upright running style - how is Adrian Peterson doing, how about Bo Jackson, or Eric ****erson?
Mcfadden is also a very versatile player, he can run the ball, catch the ball, return the ball, and yes even throw the ball.
He's simply a football player. Give him the ball and watch him make things happen.
In my mind there's no doubt that McFadden is going to be a stud in the NFL.

It makes no sense to draft a RB with the 1st pick this year. They already have Maroney/Morris/Faulk which is fine. The Pats need to draft defense in the 1st rd, either LB or CB. This is such a good RB draft that you could pick one up in the 3rd for good value.

Any RB can run to the inside and try to squeeze into gaps, but college gaps and NFL gaps are different, no to mention in the NFL there will be someone there to greet you. Dhillion had the ability to sidestip the greeters or power spin or forearm smash or just plain run over the greeter.

Dhillon was always able to tip toe and use his agiility with out acutally bending his body and just sidestep guys. This ability allowed Dhilllon to be consistent because dhillion could run with small gaps or big huge gaps.

I hope Mcfadden knows the guys in the NFL hit harder and more often. If his other abilities like pass block, catch out of the back field, run routes out of the back field well, if these abilities are excellent, then I see the patriots grabbing him.

Mcfadden = Maroney with more raw skills.
