Awesome game by Maroney.

I don't ever want to hear whining about Maroney again. As you can see, he can run when we need him to.

At almost 6 yards per carry against a team that was very good at stopping the run

Where is the Putz brigade of NSA, F7, VJC, and Danny88? You still think Maroney is a bust? Maroney had 22 carries for 122 yards (5.55 YPC) against the 11th ranked run defense in the league. OH, and lets not forget the TD and the 2 receptions for 40 yards.

He played great. And he has been playing great recently. But I stand by my comments that early in the year, we was not hitting the holes hard enough and looked tentative. Are you telling me that he hasn't changed his running style since early in the year?

He is nice and fresh for the playoffs. BB is no idiot. He limited Maroney's workload during the season for a reason.

Maroney has been running differently in the past several weeks. He wasn't attacking this way before. He's a very talented runner. It just took something (the diapers) or someone (Belichick) to get him straightened out. Anyone who said he sucked, was just an idiot. He was just underachieving.

Maybe the holes were not there before. If you would have observed the earlier games, you would have noticed that. His style is more of trying to get to outside outside and then gain extra yards. But it looks like he was just going by the design of the play and not doing his own thing. Following his lead blockers most of the time. The problem was the lead blockers weren't doing much leading for him.

Most running backs need a certain amount of reps to get into their groove. Being in a 'pass all day and twice on sunday' team gives you fewer options.

Now no one can deny the fact that we expected a little more from Maroney earlier in the year. But to go to the extreme that some of the fans have gone on this board is utterly ridiculous.

But you are entitled to your opinion and I'm sure you want to be proven horribly wrong every week :)

Maybe you should watch the whole season and not just select games. YES, in the 1st 3 games, he was hitting the holes like this. After his injury, yes, he was tentative. But also still LEARNING. The kid IS only 22 years old.

Stand by whatever you want. The people who were calling Maroney a BUST are IDIOTS. The people who were giving up on Maroney because of the game plans don't know jack about the game and really should have just kept quiet.

The fact remains that Maroney is YOUNG. And that many of the games that people complained about, people ignored the game plan or ignored the fact that the game was well in hand and that there was no need to use Maroney.

Maroney is the man! He is the freshest running back in the playoffs. Who cares about regular season stats? As much as I wanted Maroney to have 1,500 yards rushing and 10+ td's, it's better to take it easy on your RB's when your passing game is so dynamic. Also, we don't want to see our running backs to worn out in the post season from getting so many touches in the regular season. Look for the Patriots and other NFL teams to employ more running back by committe approach to save tread on their runners.

Maroney has been good all season(despite what many think) and recently he has erupted. He had a stretch of a couple games where he struggled but he has just done awesome when we need him too. Also he had a couple big runs. He has been finding holes and running hard, getting those big gains that he would get last year. You shouldn't call the kid a bust because he had a couple of tough games and an injury that had him out for 2 games or something.

He is very young and exceptionally talented. He is one of the top 3 RB's from his draft class. There are several teams in the NFL that would love to have Maroney as their running back. He is going to be a very good back for years to come.

Maroney is running these last few games like a completely different runner. He's making those single quick cuts upfield and he's gone. He's been very impressive the last couple of months. I've always said that he's great in space but he's running like a different back. He looks like he's playing with a chip on his shoulder and exploding through the hole. He's probably hitting the hole better than any back I've seen this year and I was critical at the beginning of the season.

Take away the five carries for eight yards on the final drive that were just dives into the line to chew clock, and Maroney rushed for 6.7 yards a carry. He ran with the same style he ran with throughout the season, it's just that lately, he's not getting met by a tackler 2 yards in the backfield every other play.

I think Maroney is a great back, its been well documented that if you guys wouldnt have snatched him up in the draft we were going to. He played well tonight, but the jags were daring you to run, they virtually played their nickel D all night long. Nice win. Hopefully we will see you guys next week.

I don't think the difference is Maroney so much as it is better run blocking. He is finally getting some space to work with and now we get to see what he can do.

One thing I have seen more of from him lately is power running and toughness once he gets hit. He is starting to look like Marion Barber the way he pushed the pile a couple times tonight.

I love the guy, he makes our offense completely unstoppable.

He is great in space, I'll give you that. Nice to see the Pats using him more in the passing game as well on screens and dump offs. Lets hope he continues to play well. Teams are going to either a) blitz (which Brady could still tear apart) or b) play nickel, and we need Maroney at his best in this situation.

Agreed. He was not doing this earlier in the year, be it from injury or otherwise. He is playing with an agressive streak right now that I had not seen since we drafted him.

Kool Aid is now 207-957 on the year for a cool 4.62 YPC. The much ballyhooed "better" pick, Addai is at 4.1.

I have tremendous respect for MAroney. Look at these stats from last night's game:

Rushing yds: MAroney: 122

Taylor and Drew-Jones combined: 66

MAroney is quicker and once he gets past the line has amazing speed.

The fact is, he is now completely healthy.
He was not earlier in the year.

That is why the Pats kept passing, and passing and passing
through most of the season.
