Really stepped up, I was thoroughly impressed by his performance, he was (despite Harrison's interception) the best player in the seconday today. :rocker:

I noticed as well. Meriweather had some very good hits/stops, and good coverage on other players. He was also on the field a lot, and the only time you noticed him he was making a good play.

Progress progress progress. Week by week by week.

But, but... I thought he was the latest in the long line of first round Patriots' busts, along with Glass Maroney, Stone Hands Watson, Gone to Denver Graham, Shoots His Mouth Off Seymour!

Meriweather dropped an easy interception. Other than that I agree.

he did drop the INT, but i can forgive him...

seems to me there is a 3 man rotation for safeties, rodney, james and meriweatehr...

the rookie had a LOT of playing time today...and i think he did very superbly...i think hes gonna be worthy of a #1 pick

He dropped that INT, but it wasn't by any means "easy". The ball was deflected and he had a split second to react before it hit the ground. He also had to dive in order for that ball to hit him in the hands. If anything it would have been a great catch/INT if he had held on, and shouldn't have been expected.

he is by no means polished as a DB but he is looking good no worries at safety for the future.

I don't care he droped that INT he is learning and improving thats what counts he can work on catching in the off season. No one else got that ball and harrison picked it off just after anyway.

He's dropped a few that could have been taken down. BB mentioned it in a press conference in passing, a few weeks ago. But, the good news is that he's been in position to make the play. More and more, we're seeing why he was so highly regarded. I love the way he's progressing.

You can analyze that one play all you want ( and I'll agree with you), but how many INTs could Merriweather had this year? When he missed that I was talking about 3 or 4 that I could remember.

He reminds me of Samuel in his first years, but a better tackler. If Merriweather can hold on to those picks he has a big career ahead of him.

After Asante overcame a few years of the dropsies, I think one thing Pats fans HAVEN'T ridden Meriweather about is the drops. Rather, his worst critics are probably surprised he's gotten into position to HAVE so many drops. :)

I'm feeling better about the kid. I think he'll do well.

Meriweather is going to be very important next week if the Colts advance. The Pats will likely be in nickel/dime formation most of the day (Rodney playing a pseudo-linebacker).

I firmly believe that Meriweather's journey that started in April last year was all about delivering the goods next Sunday...

Stepped it up big time. I liked what I saw. Nice hits and was mixing it up real well.

Sorry, but there was nothing easy about that. He was off-balance, moving forward and the ball was down below his knees. Yes, it DID hit his hands, but that was hardly easy.

He seems to be bigger as well. I remember earlier in the season he looked thin.

He is going to amzing next year adn insane after that if he progress the way he has they need to start meking cap room for him now because he is going to be in high demand

I thought Meriweather played ok, but nothing special. He had a few good plays and a few plays he was late to the ball. No one on defense played particularly well tonight and Meriweather was definitely not the worse. I still don't see this guy who is being much more than a decent nickel and dime back at this point.

He is playing better than he has a month ago, but he hasn't shown me enough to make me feel remotely comfortable if we found out that either Sanders or Harrison would be out for the AFC Championship game.
