Looking the part vs. playing the part.

Looking the part vs. playing the part.

Trust me he plays the part,

Wanna see him destroy Jake Long? The number 1 tackle in the draft...

How about a little coverage?

How about being held, and still making the tackle behind the line?

He also has the stats to match his ridiculous athleticism. He is amazing, and very underrated.

What's the purpose of those things around his elbow? I was always curious of that.

same purpose as wrist bands. more for style i guess. no real purpose

he would definitely bring some much needed youth and athleticism to the linebacker spot, but i'm not sure he could play the inside, if he can't that means we have to move vrabel and/or adalius there

This guy just makes TOO much sense not to take him at 7. Moving Thomas back inside, with the ability to still play outside, would allow Gholston to play that OLB spot, or atleast backup if Colvin comes back. But this man is just that. A man. Merriweather hasnt been asked to do much in the secondary other than play a minor role and contribute on special teams. Which is another reason to love Gholston. Could you imagine this guy coming down on special teams and blowing up a returner? My god. I think this is the guy we target in that 7 spot at OLB for the 3-4, learning the position from some of the best in the game, one of which is former Ohio State Dend Mike Vrabel. And I loved what the guy had to say about the timing of his entering the draft. Seems well-spoken and mature. I wont hate him for not carrying his team past LSU in that title game. Ohio State went down to a better team playing on basically a home field, and one guy wasnt going to will any team to win in that situation. Id think this pick of Gholston is an ideal match.

I would like to see us take Gholston or trade back and get Harvey...Not sure if Colvin will be back, but even if he is, you let Gholston learn from Colvin and Vrabel...Putting AD inside will enable Seau and Bruschi to split reps again, and further, give some learning time for whoever else joins the LB corps whether that be the draft or free agency.

If the Ohio St cornerback declared, then I could see taking him, but based on the number of people who have declared, I'd say the best option is clearly the pass rusher. These guys wreck games. Get as many pass rushers as possible IMO. We already have a very good run stopping defensive line.
