I'm not sure Jenkins works as far as the characteristics that BBlooks for in his CBs.

He has no quick twitch. Doesn't play the run that well and has played a lot of man coverage at OSU as opposed to the zone that we play over 80% of the time.

Ikegwuonu, whose name I probably F'ed up, declared today. I would draft him over Jenkins, although I've heard there's a character flag that needs investigating. If Zenon is available in the fourth/fifth, I might take him too.

I will say Jenkins appeared more impressive than James L or Gholston. The announcers said that he was one of the best run stopping CBs in all of college football. I did see him miss that one tackle, but. He seems to be very good.

the flag on Jack was he stole an Xbox or something off campus as a sophomore..him and his brother. he is very good at disrupting routes and being physical at the line. hes also got good size and he ran a 4.28 on campus (Wisconsin fast track, hand timed) while people say hes slow. I think he'll run a 4.42 or slightly better and he does have the speed.

yeah, i don't think either Gholston or Laurinaitis is worth a #7 spot. Connor seems too small to play LB in our system. I'd take either Long but I think they are both gone by the time we pick. I'd be okay with Jenkins. I might even consider Clady or Baker (Baker only if the Pats think he can play tackle in the NFL and not just guard) but i think i'd prefer a trade down at this point. I think Maualuga would be a great pick, but I think he will stay at USC for another year. Wouldn't mind trading down for Antoine Cason too either late first or early second round.

His trial is scheduled for later this month, I believe. Stupid things 19-year-old kids do.....

Seems there are quite a few decent corners. But, no great ones. Would love to trade down and get an extra two. Then take a cb with that extra 2 and 3 from Oakland. I'd love to get a pass-rusher in round 1. Not sure what staff thinks of Gholston. But, maybe a guy like D.Harvey if we trade down.
Others have discussed K.Phillips as an eventual replacement for Rodney. I'm not crazy about him. I just don't want to give that big a contract to a rookie.

Very odd bowl season, none of the top CB's really helped themselves with solid bowl games, except maybe Talib who looks to be the slowest of the top CBs.

Jenkins and Williams of South Florida were toasted alive. Jenkins of OSU gave up a TD on a simple crossing route. Lee of Auburn a late riser didn't impress me against Kelly of WR Clemson, who I think is only a junior. etc. etc. etc.

I think BB can find some solid Corners for the Pats zone system in the 3rd and 4th round as he has done with Hobbs and Samuel. ie: Lowerey of San Jose state an interception machine. Or a kid from a smaller school, the Kent State CB, or even Cason from Arizona who is tumbling down dradft boards.

All that being said however, Round #1 has to be used to secure a superior pass rusher; if one is available.

Right now I think that Long is the only pass rusher that comes to mind worth a top 10 spot unless you consider Dorsey a pass rusher from the tackle spot but both are probably gone by our pick. It seems like this years draft is deep but weak at the top. I agree that it's better to find corners and even LBs and DE/LB conversion projects (like Ted Johnson in the second round and Tedy Bruschi in the 3rd) after the first round and take the best player available in round one if we can't trade down rather than trying to reach for need.

As far as draft capital goes, I'd be willing to part with either the 2nd or Oakland's 3rd. I'm not sure about the actual $, though. 7's steep enough as it is, let alone going higher.

That said, it's weird--I'm almost certain the Pats will trade out of that spot . . . but I could make a case for moving up and a case for moving down. . . .
