I have season tickets and will be going to Saturday's game. I am really looking forward to it, and my brother suggested we do something different on the grill, I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions. What do you cook while in Foxboro?

I've read one idea on another site:

Bacon & Cheese Burger Dogs

Basically its a poormans Turducken, first you cut the dog lengthwise, insert cheese, wrap it with a flattened hamburber patty, then wrap that in bacon, use toothpicks to hold the bacon, tinfoil tent each one, med indirect heat 20-30 minutes, remove tin foil, throw right on grill to brown, slam it in a kaiser roll, add your choice of toppings.

There is always the classic steak:D

I always like to theme my football food.

Wings when we play buffalo.
Fish when we play Mia.

This week we play the cats.

I keep hearing there is more than one way to skin one, but does anybody got any recipes?

Booker's bourbon, Bass Ale and Booker's bourbon.

For the visiting Jacksonville fan:

The Jack Del Rio

(2) shots of Jack Daniels
(2) shots of water from the St. Johns river

P.S. Double the Jack after the game so they can forget about the ass wuppin' that they just witnessed.

Don't bother. Just order a bunch of take out from the nearest asian place.....

stuff like steak is not good at games... you need smaller finger food type stuff...

good stuff for cold games:

meatballs (preferably fresh, but frozen works)... get one of those tinfoil pans, fill with meatballs, enough grape jelly to almost cover (they will melt down)... and lots of seasoning... slap it on your grill until almost boiling... if you want, eat on a plate, or in hotdog rolls or similar... maybe add cheese.

for the first, quickest food, get a box of taquitos, ghetto but good... fire your grill up, and throw a bunch on; you will need to turn them... they will be the first thing ready, and since they are small, they are easy finger food.

marinade some chicken (with bone, eg, legs) overnight, in a dry marinade mix... but instead of water, use budweiser... no other beer... im not a bud drinker, but it is the best beer for cooking flavor.

then of course, all the other stuff like burgers, dogs, etc, lots of peppers, onions, etc... cook your peppers/onion mix on the grill... in tinfoil, (top must be open though!) if needed (depending on your type of grill) ... just the smell will make you king of the lot

we always do a couple sure bets, and we try 1 or 2 new things each time

Sorry, I have to be jerk. Frozen meatballs are never an option and they belong nowhere near grape jelly!!!!!! Sorry, I'm Italian and that is like a mortal sin. Carry on.

Steamed Shrimp:
(Basic recipe for at home, but when tailgating double/triple the ingredients)
1 lb Shrimp (peeled, deveined, no tail, if possible)
1 tablespoon Old Bay Seasoning
Just a little salt
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
3 12 oz beers (one for cooking, two to drink while cooking).

Combine beer, old bay, salt, and red pepper flakes in a pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and add shrimp. Cover pot and let steam for 5 minutes. Drain and enjoy.
For dipping mix some horseradish with ****tail sauce to your own personal taste.
The nice part about this recipe is you can experiment with different beers to alter the taste.

I saw someone post that seeing we were playing the cats this week they were going to order out at a discount Chinese resturant. EEEOOUUU!

Ever since the "tuck" game with Oakland, I have always made my "playoff home made ice cream. Though it was what..2 degrees for the Titan game, the ice cream came out. Total karma I know. With playoffs come colder weather and that brings out soups. tomorrow, along with the ice cream, I'm bringing home made clam chowder. Excellent stuff!.
LOL Last year for the playoff game with the Jets, our tailgate party assigned one guy to make the Martinis!! :D

That would be perfect idea for this story: My niece's husband used to work as a state health inspector in Jacksonville, got a call one night around 1:00 am from his boss, went to a chinese restaurant and found over 100 cat pelts in the trash behind the building, went on to find the skinned cats hanging in the freezer. True story!!

I love the fact that you mention "mortal sin", it fits well with your avatar pic!

Oh yeah, I believe it. Years ago, my Dad (Boston Police) and I went in to a call in the China town section of Boston for a complaint, ( gambling) In the basement was, yep, you guesed it.:D Dogs too. The owners explained that was just for some of the nationals that lived in the neighborhood. Yeah right.

I know it's boring but I'm a big fan of the classic brats in beer. The great thing about them is they can sit in the beer bath forever and people can just grab them as they come, throw several sliced onions and green peppers in the beer bath along with a handful of black peppercorns and a pad of butter (no it's not excessive it's the playoffs) and just let it bubble away on the side of the grill.

Pull tab to open.

I cannot ever remember disagreeing with a post on this board more.

Steak and steak tips are the perfect tailgate food. Grab some rolls and some marinated tips and you simply cannot go wrong.
