Dungy Almost Done?

I doubt it.

He should have been almost done with his family went through a horrible tragedy but like the selfish man that he is, he decided to stay and coach when his family needed him the most.

Sainthood? Are you kidding?!?! He goes directly to God's side!

Sarcasm aside, this would be a pretty significant move if he took some time off. He has obviously done a terrific job with the Colts. Between the Colts and the Patriots, they have broken the NFL revolving franchise system, creating two perennially great contenders. Dungy has really rebuilt that defense, on the cheap, into a much-improved unit, and has annually built an offense that plays to Manning's strengths as one of the elite in the league.

For those who want to castigate him for his home life, don't push that comparison too far. There aren't many head NFL coaches who put the team second to anything.

He's done.

His son left his high school in Indy and already started school in Tampa. I'm sure his mother is with him too.

Right on Keegs ... Dungy is an egomaniac ... which is fine
if that's what he wants but he needs to lay off the holier than though crap.

He will either ascend to heaven or enter politics.

I'm listening to WFAN at work and Mike and the dog were talking about this. No indication either way but Dungy is scheduled to meet with Colt officals. Both radio hosts stated he's want to spend some time with his son who's 16 in Florida

Should Belichick have taken a year off when him and his wife were being divorced? I'm sure that wasn't easy on his kids either. My dislike for Dungy is well-documented, but his reaction to his family's tragedy is off-limits.

I don't think it hurts them too badly if he walks away.

Other then somehow keeping all the ego's on the team in check, (and his guys do seem to like playing for him),I don't think he's that great a coach.

I suppose it depends on who they would get. I think that Marty or any number of retreads gets near the same with that team.

IMO - It would hurt us alot worse if BB left.

The guy wants to minister at prisons, or at least he's said that in the past.

It wouldn't surprise me for a second if he quits and never looks back, not because he's better than anyone else, he just seems like a guy who could pull it off because he stays pretty even ..... or emotionally dissociative like another poster said, who am I to say, but whatever, I'm just saying it wouldn't surprise me if this is it for him.

Thank goodness you set everyone straight on what can and cannot be talked about.

BB didn't have someone in his family die. when people go through divorces and marriage problems they continue to work, it's a very common thing nowadays. which is sad.

But according to the way everyone looks at Dungy as a Saint, and the way he behaves, he handled his family tragedy horribly.

He seemed to be more concerned with his image and his family's image rather than fixing the actual problem. Hence him worrying about his son's myspace more than taking time off and spending time with his family.

Could someone please post a summary of his myspace profile?

And on the 3rd day, Dungheap rose from the dead.

I don't remember all of the details, Keegs probably does. But he was very much a black supremacist. He supported the DC sniper and was very vocal about it. Many statements about killing white people. He was a very disturbed young man, very sad.

Hey, if you want to be a jerk you can talk about anything you want, I'm just talking limits of decency.

Hey, I'm a parent, so talking about someone's dead kid doesn't appeal to me all that much. I'm still not going to dictate what's off-limits, or, for that matter, decent.
