According to GBN, Rich Rodriguez has kicked Manningham off the team for blowing off a team meeting. Manningham had been waffling whether or not to turn pro, but unless he wants to transfer to 1-AA, it appears his decision has been made for him.

Here's the link, although it doesn't add anything else: http://www.gbnreport.com/

MichiganDave should be a good source of info for this situation!

If you miss one team meeting you're off the team? What kind of policy is that?

Suppose his car broke down or something? Maybe he just forgot?

Good move by Rodriguez. He needs to get everyone's attention, establish his authority, lay down the law. Better to be feared than loved at first. Love can come later. Manningham was going pro anyway, the spread O won't help his draft status rise as a senior.

Nah, not as draconian as that. It sounds like a couple of players were publicly waffling about returning, then didn't show up to the first team meeting with the new coach. So coach says "OK, you're telling me you no longer consider yourself part of the team, I'll take that as goodbye. Don't let that door hit you." Kind of the coaching equivalent of "You can't fire me, because I'm quitting ffirst!"
