Owen looks like he would fit in nicely on the Patriots.
He is expected go in round 4 so would Belichick value him
in round #3, his stock is rising. Probably not but this is my ritual every year,
looking for a big pass catching run blocking FB for Belichick.
He never listens to me but I post them anyways.:p

He is 6'2" ... 250 lbs .... 4.6 to 4.7 forty.

He's physical, a workout warrior, team leader, throwback type player.
He can also line up at TE.

Belichick might listen more if you said he was a TE that projected to play fullback.

Or if he could take one of the vacant starting positions at CB, Nickel CB, ILB...

I like Schmitt, he is a beast and would likely be an upgrade over Eckel but there is so much work to be done on the back seven of the defense that I haven't even looked at anything on the offensive side except for a few OTs.

Exactly... can he play tight end? That's the real question.

Looking at the weak TE class, he might be the best TE prospect in the draft. 100% football player, and as I've stated, I want him with one of the third round picks. We haven't had a blocking fullback since who....McCray? Because a blocking fullback typically doesn't have the versatility to use. Schmidt does have that multi-tool functionality. He's a f@cking Leatherman.

I could see him being undrafted. Not a great runner, not really fast. ARe his hands that good?

how did u come to that conclusion about him being best TE?

Davis, Rucker, Carlson, Keller, Bennett are all good TEs..better than Owen. Hes not fast/quick/or very athletic and doesnt make big plays. hes a true FB really.

if you want a FB/TE its Hillis from arkansas. very good wr, runner, returned kicks and hes got the speed. hes a true weapon

I like this stat... "Schmitt has broken 10 facemasks during his four years at West Virginia. "

The dude is crazy. After he shanked a punt for like 10 or 15 yards he went to the sidelines, took his helmet off and slammed it into his forehead several times. Yeah, I know. Why was he punting? Ask the new Michigan head football coach. He reminds me of the roid rage guy from The Program.

He'll be lucky to get a camp invite from someone.

3rd round? You're kidding right?

He started as a 4th round projection and is working his way up.
Makes sense in this every team needs 2 backs offenses.

I doubt we take him but look at the 2 duds we picked last year.

don't know much about him but do you think he is good enough to beat out Evans and Eckel and how are his special teams skills?

I think he's clearly better than Evans and Eckel as a blocker, and even to slightly better carrying the ball. What I don't know is how good his hands are. I've seen him make some playes in the screen game, but those were mostly Slaton and Devine plays. I really think that you could put him on the line as a TE and he could be a dominant blocker as well.

While he wouldn't quite be the same, do you think he could fill a Kyle Brady-like role in the offense?
