i just got an e-mail from the patriots reguarding selling of tickets on other sites...

And..........?

Yep, got it this morning. basically said they prohibit unauthorized sales, use the ticketexchange and they got the info from stubhub, will be processing it over the offseason and determining penalties for violators either losing seats, losing waitlist priveleages, losing SB lottery, downgrade of seats, etc. Maybe we'll move up a bit this off season!

Here's what it said:

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Patriots Ticket Resale
Dear Season Ticket Holders and Wait List Members:
As the Patriots begin their post-season, we want to remind you of the Team's long-standing rules against the resale of tickets to Patriots home football games at Gillette Stadium, and caution that these policies remain strictly in force. The Patriots adopted rules against unlicensed resale-including resale on internet sites-to protect fans who want access to tickets to Patriots home football games at face value, to deter violations of the Massachusetts anti-scalping statute, and to help ensure a safe, secure, and family-friendly environment at Gillette Stadium.

Many of you may be aware of an ongoing lawsuit that the Patriots brought against the internet-based ticket broker, StubHub. One of the reasons that the Patriots sued StubHub was to eliminate any possibility that StubHub's unauthorized use of the Patriots' name and logo in advertising and on the StubHub website created the misimpression that the Patriots have authorized ticket holders to resell their tickets to home football games on StubHub. As set forth on the tickets themselves, in the Patriots Fan Guides, and on the Patriots' website, any such resale of tickets on internet sites is strictly prohibited and grounds for revocation of season ticket holder and wait list member rights and privileges.

In connection with the StubHub lawsuit, the court has opened the door for the Patriots to access information from StubHub that allows the Team to identify season ticket holders and wait list members whose tickets have been resold on StubHub. The Patriots are reviewing this information, and will continue to do so during the off-season. The Team will be making decisions in due course regarding repercussions for those who have violated the Team's policies. Those repercussions may include revocation, exclusion from Super Bowl lotteries, downgrading of seats, and the like.

As a season ticket holder or wait list member, you continue to have access to the TeamExchange program administered by Ticketmaster. This program allows season ticket holders and wait list members to purchase at face value tickets for the seats of season ticket holders who find they are unable to use their tickets for home football games at Gillette Stadium, and allows season ticket holders to obtain a refund for tickets they are unable to use. You can access the TeamExchange website by clicking here. The TeamExchange program, in concert with the prohibition against reselling tickets, helps ensure that fans can attend Patriots home football games for the face value of a ticket. It also enables the Team to know the identity of ticket purchasers and hold them accountable for their conduct and the conduct of their guests at Gillette Stadium. This has helped the Patriots develop the safe, secure, family-friendly experience that fans have come to enjoy and expect. In short, the Patriots' aim is to protect fans who want to attend football games, not the people who want to profit from resale.

We look forward to seeing you at Gillette Stadium for what promises to be an exciting post-season

Oooh boy .... looks like Danny88's season tickets might be up for grabs.

Hypotheticaly - what if you use Stubhub, eBay, etc. to sell your tickets at face value?

Is the issue not using Ticket Exchange or selling above face value?

Just sell a pencil for 200 dollars and throw in a ticket as a bonus. :D

Go back and read the text. They are also trying to maintain a family atmosphere by not letting tickets be available to any Tom, **** or Harry on the internet...

So it's just not how much, but also to whom. Now, there's no guarantee that someone on the waiting list isn't a screw-up, but then they can permanently remove that guy from the list if he does get out of hand, as well as the season ticket holder who sold him those tickets and would more likely sell tickets to similar folks in the future.

The problem I have is the Patriots did not mention action against folks that have bought on Stub Hub in the past that has nothing to do with their own tickets...wonder what they would do then? Hopefully, nothing as I can see going after those that sold seats for profit, but not buyers on Stub Hub.

I know I always thought Stub Hub came by the tickets legally, from give backs by other teams or extras or something. I never thought about it really.

Stun Hub makes it appears as if they are a legally sanctioned seller of tickets.

I don't think there's much they could do. They might be able to give a list of names to the state for possible prosecution, assuming the buying of scalped tickets is a crime (I don't know if it is), but I can't imagine the state would expend the resources to prosecute buyers. Beyond that, they can't sue since you don't have a contractual relationship with them. They might blacklist you from being able to get season tickets in the future, but who would they really be helping with that?

What is someone supposed to do if they buy tickets on the ticketexchange or ticketmaster and then they get sick or plans change and they can't go the game? Just eat the ticket?

Yes 10 char

Or you could give them or sell them to a friend

I would hope that any sales before the ticket exchange was established wouldn't be penalized, since there was no approved way to sell excess tickets. I don't know when that was, I am not on the waiting list.

I would also hope that a season ticket holder who put one game on Stubhub wouldn't be penalized at the same level someone who puts a whole season's worth on there.

But some of their decisions have in the past been pretty harsh, they have absolute power and can basically do what they feel like doing.

Yeah, there was. You were always allowed to sell them at face value.

Yay, Stub Hub!

I'm on the wait list, have been for 8 years, and I think next year I may move up, WAY up, on the list, maybe even to get season's tickets.

Thank you, everyone who ever sold their tickets on Stub Hub, and thank you Stub Hub for making my seasons tickets a near reality! Whoo Hoo!

So, anyone here get tickets last year after being on the wait list? What year did you join?

That's an awesome philosophy. Because we all know they have no fans in other states who benefit from being able to buy tickets online.

I went to several road games the last few years (Miami, GB, SD ,DEN ect...) because of buying tickets online. It has made planning out of town trips possible. I don't sell my tickets on ebay but I have no problem with people that do because I buy my road games this way. btw Dave saw this in the Globe today .http://www.boston.com/news/globe/living/articles/2008/01/08/lehane_sets_the_date/ Brady's livin’ large
A few weeks ago, the NFL Network showed a video of Tom Brady at his tryout for scouts in 2000. In one snippet, Brady is shirtless and wearing only boxer shorts, revealing a shockingly pale and squishy midsection. No wonder the guy was drafted 199th overall. Yesterday, appearing on WEEI, Brady was asked about the tape. "Oh god," No. 12 muttered to morning hosts John Dennis and Gerry Callahan. "I'm trying to get those tapes destroyed." All eyes are on the MVP as he prepares for Saturday's playoff game against the Jags. Back from a weekend in New York with his supermodel sweetheart Gisele Bundchen, Brady's said to be moving into his Beacon Street penthouse this week. The QB bought the building in 2005 for $6.7 million, put two of the brownstone's condos on the market (for $4.59 million and $3.99 million respectively) and kept the top two floors for himself. It's fortunate that the new place has a garage. Brady just bought himself a sweet new ride, an Audi R8, which lists for $110,000.

Imagine having Brady as your upstairs neighbor and landlord? Hehe

So as a 20 something he buys a place and sells off half for close to $2M, more than he bought it for, and gets himself a top 2 floor penthouse PLUS $2M. Makes $2M BUYING a home.

What a dumb jock. :)
