Roethlisberger is Steelers' top priority

Can't argue with that, he sucks.

Just a little tidbit for all of you Big Ben haters...

Compare Ben's stats this year (his 4th year in the NFL) to Brady's 4th season...

Brady 2004 - 3,692 yards, 28TDs, 14INTs, 5 fumbles lost

Roethlisberger 2007 - 3,495 yards, 34TDs, 14INTs, 4 fumbles lost

Kinda similar, wouldn't you say? Add to that Ben's 200+ rushing yards and 2TDs this year. Ben was also sacked 53 times this year to Brady's 26 in 2004, which explains that he was able to accomplish these stats under LOTS of pressure (thanks to a crappy O-line).

So go ahead and say he sucks if you want, but he'll most likely finish in the top 6 or 7 at QB in the league this year. I'll take that for a 4th year guy any day.

Ben is one of the better QBs in the NFL. The Steelers would do well to lock him up long term. Now, if they could get some play calling that accentuates Roethlisberger's skills (running isn't one of them), he'd be a real threat.

Million dollar arm, .05 cent head, so throw all the stats you want at me, he made some piss poor decisions in that game, end of story ok stat boy?

And he made some piss poor decisions in the 2004 AFCCG too, he looks a lot like Drew Bledsoe did his first few years as a Patriot; locks in on his primary reciever, does not read defenses well, forces the ball into places he should not. He either learns not to do all of the above, or he becomes Drew part II..................

nicely said, he can compare statistically to Brady sometimes, but never can accomplish what Tom has.

Until he learns to play the position, it's apples vs hand grenades. Was their any doubt in your mind about Brady learning how to play the position after watching "the drive" vs the Rams in the Super Bowl; it's much more than just standing back there chucking the ball around and Ben needs to learn that.....

I think Ben is a very good QB but please do not compare him to Brady. QB ratings, passing yards, TD's etc.. are interesting and can start a framework for a debate but they certainly do not tell anything close to the whole picture. Brady is the epitome of cool. He reminds me of Elway in his ability to lift his team to victory in crunch time which goes way beyond the numbers. There are a lot of QB's who put up decent stats (take a look at Pennington -his numbers aren't bad) but there are very few who give their team and their fans the utmost confidence in them. Do you think us Pats fans would have been worried on your last drive against the Jags? Is there any chance in hell that Brady would not have thrown for the 1st on 3rd in 6? Ben is a good QB. Brady is an alltime legend.

As far as I could see, he made one real bad decision, that being the decision to throw into double coverage down the sideline. He admitted such after the game as well. The first INT was a skinny post in which the corner honestly just made great play on. That happenes to the best of QB's. Give the JAX corner credit for a great play. The screen pass INT was a tough one too. The guy who picke dit off was on his way down one second before he dropped back into coverage. Again, he made a great play. It wasn't really that bad of a decision. He just didn't see him and given the nature of the play, that's understandable.

Say he has a $0.05 head all you want, but you don't accumulate those stats if you're dumb in the NFL.

Brady was on the bench at this point in his career.

I won't compare him to Brady if you give the guy the credit he deserves. You did this at some points in your posts. In others, you seem more interested in putting him down for effect.

Roethlisberger is a great quarterback, top 5 in the league for sure. Good move by the Steelers. Of course he is no Tom Brady, but then again, who is?
