Actually not many. If most season ticket holders were reselling their tickets the price would go down, it is because very few people are the price is high.

In fact for the last few home Dolphins and Jets games you could buy scalped tickets for below face value, because many people were reselling.

Go back to eco 101 and study the supply-demand curve.

Of course it depends on the game. Miami and Jets lots of people trying to sell tickets, very few trying to buy -- price goes down.

Green bay and NE lost people trying to buy, very few trying to sell price goes up.

But you said many people were selling, that is false, few are selling, many are buying.

I thought I read that the Patriots organization actively was pursuing scalpers and taking away season ticket privileges from those that were caught. It was a few months ago, and the Patriots had won some kind of case where they had subpoenaed Ebay's Stubhub website. I hadn't heard of any recent news about that being here in Indy where scalping is not against the law. Are these people risking losing their season tickets?

Your exactly right, and consider the product (Patriots tickets) in the equation. Not only is this "product" one of the best in the industry (the NFL), it is also one doing things no other "product" has ever done. In this historical season we could see ticket stubs from any game during the season sold on ebay for crazy money if the Pats finish 19-0. This product that the Pats are is creating a huge demand for non-fans even.

Short version: tickets are expensive, there is nothing we can do to change that. :bricks:

They should go after the season ticket holders that sold their tickets...but buyers?? That doesn't make sense.

Buyers never knew there was anything wrong with buying from Stub Hub - hell, they advertise on radio & TV and guarantee the buyer safety. How would a buyer even know, or care, where they got their tickets?? For all most buyers know, they thought they came directly from the Patriots - people have no clue, they are not detectives. They bought tickets to a game, no criminal act there.

Go after the sellers, leave the buyers alone - or at least come out and warn them before taking action.

Jayhawk - At the time of this post, there are only 26 ticket options on Ebay for tickets to the Pats/Jags game. By comparison, when I tried to go to the Pats/Cowboys game, there were some 250 different sellers. The avg. ticket price on ebay for that game was well over $400.

So, I would fully expect that the ticket prices for the Pats/Jags play-off game to be at least that, if not MORE. Especially with such low supply and HIGH demand.

there will be a ****load more tomorrow; watch... the price will be higher because it is the first game that has really mattered to the pats since week 5.

as long as there is demand (and stubhub), there will be scalping... let's say 10,000 STH's lose their tix... who do you think gets them? 90% of them will be the same scalpers, who have their mother, son, cousin, etc, already on the list.
