OT: Good spot for standing room only?

I managed to get a standing room only ticket for the AFCCG during the waiting list presale the other day. In case I can't snag anything better on ticketexchange, can anyone recommend any good spots to watch the game from? Can you lean against the railings on those ramps in the corner of the south endzone?

you nailed it. the corner of the south endzone is the only railing you can lean against. although you cannot see from the five yard line to the back of the endzone, you can see it on the jumbo. the other spots you can see the field, but no leaning, and that just plain blows.

Having moved away to Paradise, long before Gillette replaced Schaefer, I have never watched a Patriots Game from the Razor.

But I was the first to criticize Gillette when it was being designed and built, on the grounds that it was too small and obsolescent, even then. Every other stadium in the AFCE is bigger, and the new Jets/Giants Stadium is going to get bigger still.

Plus I said that the Red Seats and general openness, would make it a quietest stadium as compared to the tiny bandbox madhouse, that it replaced. Freezing you rear end on aluminum benches, that were too small to fit, forced everyone to stand at Schaefer. Comfortable roomy seats and no obvious "Dog Pound" area for the passionate fans would hurt Gillette's ambiance and they have.

When the Razor was being built, Box and Red seat income was not shared. That was the reason so many teams wanted new stadiums. But it was inevitable that it would happen, and it did in the last CBA. Now general attendance seating area would be the place that distinguished the "rich" teams from the "poor" ones. Now, the Pats are a "poor" team from general seating revenue standpoint. That is masked by their winning ways, and clothing item sales, but that Will decline when the current run ends.

Is it too soon, (or too late), to talk about how the Razor can be expanded to even get to the average sized NFL stadium?

If the Pats were to try, where would YOU expand it? and HOW? and by HOW MUCH? I can't say having never been to the new place.

I was by the banners for the Chargers game. They were OK, but they had a gate about a yard behind the railing. If you are the first person against the gate you are OK, but if you are standing behind someone it is pretty rough unless you are tall.

I came all the way from England for the Jets@Pats game with Standing room tickets, and i'll give you my advice;

I managed to get room at the 50 yard line (on the side with the 'upside down' Elvis). For the first half there were no stadium attendants around, so we managed to get infront of the railings behind the seats, and lean back on them.

We got cleared out of that area in the second half, but there really weren't many people standing about and we were on the front row of the SRO with a clear view from the 50.

We scouted about and couldn't find anywhere better, hope this helps!

For the room behind the seats, isn't there a red line on the ground you have to stand behind? A railing or something to lean on would be nice.

In the upper deck concourse can you walk around the whole stadium in a big circle? Maybe I'll just do that bouncing from spot to spot.

South endzone by the banners is the best spot. Get inside the stadium early though I'd say atleast an hour and a half before kickoff.

I am nowhere near an architech or anything, but would it be possible to go up? Maybe put a 400 level on top of the 300 level? Or even move the lighthouse, yank the bridge, and build that part up? I mean, looking at the Seahawks place yesterday, it just looks really tall, like it has walls of sound coming from every angle. That's what I would like to see at Gillette.

It's unfortunate, the Razor really is nice and all. Too bad it's 5 years old and we are trying to fix it.

The most obvious solution is to cover up the end zones. Or building some type of barrier on the ramps to keep noise from filtering out.

seattle has open endzones, AND the loudest stadium in the nfl... whoever designed that place did it right... good job paul allen.

Yup, it's yellow if i remember correctly.


But like i said previously, if no Stadium attendants are there we leant against the rail infront of the line, just behind the back seat of the first level.

I was at the 40 yard line during the steelers game, and the view was great, as long as people weren't standing up. I'm 6 feet, and I had to stand on my toes and lean on the rail (when attendants weren't looking) to get a good view when people were standing. Would have been great if people sat down, if they let you go past the stupid red line, or if they just made a raised platform for people to stand on.

I had standing room a couple weeks ago. Here's some tips.....

1.) The problem most people go through with standing room is they get there, stand behing the goal posts, think they have a great view, and before they can even finish processing that thought the game starts. Then, when the game starts the fans that are sitting in the stands all stand up and you can't see a dam thing. This is why I would suggest first of all getting there early, and either standing up on the ramps with our three super bowl flags (that way no one can stand in your way) or standing right behing the goal posts, near the jumbo tron. (that way if you can't see because people stand up, you can watch everything on the jumbo tron.) If you're a kid like me they offer you to stand on the seats with them, which is pretty cool. The problem with standing up is if the front row stands up, then the second row has to stand up and it starts the chain reaction. And most people say it won't happen to me (me) they're very wrong. I've been to three standing room games and it happens every time. Honestly I'd just stand on the blue ramps with the three super bowl flags by the goal posts. Thats where you're gonna get the best view. Have fun and be really loud!

Luxury Suite / Club seat revenue isn't shared. The top 6 or 7 teams get taxed (15M each?), which is handed to the 6 or 7 lowest revenue teams.

Gillette is 3 times larger than the old stadium. The problem is the open ends, which allow for easier access and changeout of other events, like concerts, etc. The new Jets/Giants stadium only holds 78k, 10k more than the Pats, with more luxury seating.

When it was being built, i could swear one of the Krafts said a dome could be added to the current structure.

I would not expand it beyond it's current size. The lack of 'seating revenue' is minimal at best. The money is in the luxury seating

The big bucks come from locally generated revenues thru TV & radio. The Pats have a huge market compared to most any other team (besides Dallas), with all of New England included which comes with hundreds of radio stations and tv stations clamoring for any of their business.

Add in the superior job they do marketing their product on-line glabally, and I don't see the Pats dipping below the top 5 in revenue anytime soon. FYI, clothing sales are also split with the league, as are ticket sales.
