Spend ten minutes on IndyStar and you'll quickly conclude that the Colts fanbase is obsessed in their hatred of Bill Belichik. You will see a deep-seeded gutteral hatred that only seems to grow as the season has progressed. If any neutral observer anaylyzed this, I believe they would be dumbfounded. How can a COACH be the focus of such hatred? What could be the source of such stomach-churning hatred?

I find it to be one of the great mysteries of the 2007 season.

because they want their coach to be recognized as the best. ive always hated peyton, still do, but its not so bad now that brady has the recognition of the best. i think this might be the cause.

Didn't you hear what BB did to Dungy's wife, disgusting and all that bad mouthing the Colts organization and fans now you can understand. You just can shut him up.

I can think of only 3 reasons...give me a month and I may come up with a 4th.

Bill basically did the same thing to Peyton once he arrived here as he did to Drew when he was the DC in NY. Exposed him. Now, to his credit, Manning is smarter and more driven than the statue was, so he has adapted. And that brought Dungy some time to shore up the defense and finally not blow a gift apprearance in an uncontested SB.

But the hoody has readjusted to ratchet the pressure up on Manning's significance to the offense, and they sense this on some level, and it scares the schit out of them (not a difficult thing to do to a Colts fan BTW). On some level they believe that BB is the only thing that stood between Polian's plan for an Indianapolis dynasty and perhaps never more than one and done. They desperately tried to convince themselves after last season that we were done, a dynasty derailed. But no.....we're baaaaaaack. Then came spygate, and they thought all our acquisitions would be for naught. Then came 11-0 and finally 16-0 and a COTY, MVP, and obliterating all the passing records that were Mannings, etc.

For Indy fans we're like the terminator movies come to life - they thought they destroyed us, only we resurrected better than ever. And it's all because of him...

Because they know their coach is not as good a coach as BB. I understand this hatred. It's exactly what I felt for the Yankees. Completely irrational but totally real.

But, to be fair to the indy fans....its not just BB they are obsessed about. They are obsessed about all things Patriot...BB, Brady, the super bowl rings, etc. Its been that way for years.
My guess is that it goes beyond the fact that we now have not only the Team of the Decade, but also the Greatest Team of All Time. It goes beyond the fact that we have the greatest coach ever, the greatest QB ever, and now we have the best receiving corps in the league.
No, I think if you were to dig deeper, you would find it has something to do with the fact that most indy fans live in Indy, and, in short, have a massive inferiority complex regarding those of us who don't live in a flat, boring, and unimportant part of the country.

Why are posters here so obsessed with the goobers at Indy Star? Look at all the threads here. Reminds me of the grandaughter approaching the ocean, "I'm not saared. I'm not saared." Right.

What could be the source of such stomach-churning hatred?.

What could be the source of hatred in the NFL?

I guess you missed all of the Dungy-hate posts on this forum. Many people openly profess their hatred of all things Dungy or Colts or Manning or horsies or equestrian or mid-west.

Happens all the time. A certain subset of NFL fans are actually mental defects.

It is as simple as this, Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots have stolen the Indianapolis Colts Dynasty. Ten years down the road they will known as a the Atlanta Braves of football, all those records and regular seaon victorys and only one lonely SB win to show. I'd be jealous too!

There are 2 threads on the front page of this forum about Colts fanboards so I'm thinking this talk about obsession is a two way street.

Yes I know I just can't sleep at nights thinking about those Pats Super Bowls - which keep getting pushed farther and farther back in memories.

And you also can't seem to stop posting at this board, you idiot troll loser.

Enjoy your one pathetic Superbowl, which most have already forgotten.

they don't like BB because he is their REAL obstacle to SB.

The fact that their coach only received 1 vote while BB with spygate incident received 29 votes for the coach of the year doesn't make them happier.

Either way, their team is going to loose on 01/20/08. Yes, pats is their ONLY threat during playoff.

I ready the Indy Star every day and have no idea where you come to such a conclusion. Maybe paranoid? The real is why are Pats fans so obsessed with the Colts. I have monitered this board for almost a year and by far the Colts seem to be the topic of discussion more than any other team. Maybe paranoid?

You are such a friggin troll liar. I go there everyday and they complain about him EVERYDAY. The people there complain because there are sooooo many Pats threads.

Did you think that no one who goes there would call your weak bluff?

No one cares about Dungy here.

I think a lot of other posters have hit on the jealousy issue.... But here's another thought:

The Colts have a number of personnel where we can easily distribute our dislike:

Polian = Douchebag
Dungy = Holier than though POS
Manning = Crybaby goober
Vinatieri = Underperforming traitor
etc.

On the Pats, there's one guy to hate: Bill Belichick. How can you hate Brady, or Bruschi, or Kraft? So Colts fans focus all their hatred and resentment on one individual. Couple that to the fact that Indy fans are too dumb to understand WHY Belichick is the way he is, and you have your answer.

Because they are so outrageously funny and morbidly pathetic. It seems like half the Colt fan base is over here trying desperately to convince us how great they are, as though somehow they can whine their way to glory.

They are annoying, just like younger sisters, but it's still funny until you get bored with their antics.

Perhaps Indy fans are upset that the Pats are taking away the one thing they have been able to hang their hats on in pro team sports - Peyton Manning's stats and records. I ventured on to indystar.com and the first thing I saw on the main sports page was the "Manning Meter" - where we are told that "Peyton Manning is on pace to break every significant all-time record for NFL quarterbacks. Follow along each week as he moves up the charts."

Having launched a marketing campaign based on Manning breaking records, it is not surprising that Indy Star's Bob Kravitz would be given marching orders by his editors to defend the home team, but I have been a little bit surprised at the level that Kravitz and his newspaper have stooped to in some of his articles to stir up local civic pride - and newspaper sales - by demonizing the Colts' biggest opponent and painting them in a negative light.
