It was helmet-to-pads, then he slid up (I think) into the face cage. He still led with his helmet, and pointed at it as he ran off the field.
I'm not going to plug it into the little "Good Team/Bad Team" machine. That hit was cool to watch, but was blatantly illegal, kickoff or no kickoff. You can't grab a guy's nuts and pull him to the ground because it's a kickoff. Show me the rule that says on kickoffs you can spear a guy.
What BS.
Now, that being said, I think Wilfork being fined is absolutely legit, even if as part of the exercise he was saying "Oh a wise guy, eh? Nyuck nyuck nyuck."
