David Aldridge | Eagles' only missing ingredient is Moss

If the Eagles are as close to a return to their NFC East-leading perch as they claim their finish made them, if things are looking up because they beat the Cowboys and Saints and Bills after the playoffs shimmered and evaporated from view, then there is only one off-season move needed.

Go get Randy Moss.

No hemming about chemistry, no hawing about the price tag.

Sign Moss, a free agent when he's done carrying around the Lombardi Trophy in a month or so, and you're back in the Super Bowl.

Eagles have as much chance of signing Moss as I have of doing Faith Hill (fill in your favorite). But that doesn't stop me from dreaming.

Let's see...he mentioned the been there done that thing without going into full detail on why that didn't ultimately work out. Mentioned several of the other reasons why it might not be the entire difference maker this time. But there is one issue, the elephant in the room, he failed to mention.

Generally speaking the QB is the real difference maker in these equations. And chemisty apparently does matter. Romo has worked on building it with TO, Tommy has built it with Randy.

I think Donovan is a good guy. Unfortunately I also think he has never been one to take responsibility for his own shortcomings. And when you pair that insecure ego up with a potentially high maintenance WR ego with a low threshold for frustration, it remains a prescription for disaster. Randy can be a record setter here because the guy throwing him the ball has already proven he can win with less and more is just the frosting on his cake.

The Eagles made the mistake once before of thinking they had what it takes to manage a high maintanance talent. They didn't, either at QB, in veteran leadership or coaching and ownership. They let TO create a situation and then they sat there and watched that tear them apart. When I hear the organizational comparison's to us, I just shake my head. Dream on.

Stupid packers, ever since they won their last four games of last season, everyone who does good at the end of the season now, is apparently going to become amazing, in this case the eagles. I could see the Moss in Philly being similar to the Moss in Oakland.

It's also debatable as to whether or not McNabb is even in Philly next year. Unless they draft another one this year, they currently have Feeley and Kolb, I think? Moss would be a fool not to go there!

That answer is also quite clear: Green Bay would be battling Minnesota right now for the NFC North crown. Just like Favre lacks some of Brady’s poise and polish, Brady lacks Favre’s propensity for going all-in when the game is on the line. Green Bay’s Week Eight overtime thriller against Denver? Not sure the outcome would have been the same with Brady behind center.

I kinda feel sorry for Brady. When he has a great season with sub-par talent around him, his stats weren't good enough. When he has the greatest season ever played by a quarterback it was all because of the offensive talent assembled by the Patriots. How can Brady win an MVP then? Does he have to break his own TD record throwing to Kelvin Kight, Bethel Johnson and Bam Childress? This is insanity.

Touché. That takes the cake for the dumbest Brady related comment I've ever read related to anything since Brady has won 3 Super Bowls.

If he could throw the deep ball to himself while taking a hit in the pocket, then haul in the catch 60 yards down in triple coverage for a game-winning TD, I'm sure the stories would read that his inability to pick an open receiver forces him into one-dimensional play and keep the game too close until the last minute.

If the Eagles signed Moss they would have ONE COMPONENT of a SB team.
What he fails to realize is that they lack almost all of the other components.

I think for Moss to do great, QB play is not nearly as important as having a good OLine. He showed time and time again in Minnesota that he can do great with average QBs. The reason why he struggled last year in Oakland was the comnbination of a bad QB with a terrible offensive line, which made it futile. Now, if the Philly OLine is bad like Aldridge claims it is, then it would not be a bad fit for Moss unless McNabb were able to turn back the clock and be as mobile as he was 4 years ago.

I find this laughable-the Eagles finish the season winning three MEANINGLESS games, and all of a sudden, they're the kings of the world??

Sorry to say it, but throughout the season, McNabb didn't play well at all, but then decided to show up when the Eagles were all but OUT of it(Read-he only plays well when the pressure is OFF).

And BTW-the Dallas game was nothing more than an anomaly-Romo had receivers open ALL day, but just happened to have a bad hair day.

Their biggest achilles heel-ANDY REID-he single handedly blew their season this year. From not having an emergency backup PR to bad clock management to misusing timeouts to abandoning the run when it's working to leaving his rookie OT on an island by himself letting his franchise QB getting killed to thinking some career backup QB will be his Joe Montana and save his season to yet again poor game management to blah, blah, blah.

This has been going on throughout his tenure. He got away with it for awhile b/c the NFC was just too darn weak. Now, it's gotten alot stronger, and his coaching deficiencies are getting exposed, big time.

Amen and Randy would have to deal with the Philly media which makes the Boston media look like homers....

McNabb or Brady??? We all know the answer and the Eagles have bigger problems than that and as the writer noted, they have problems on the line ( both sides) and it won't trun around for a while...

Agreed. I can't imagine something more demoralizing than running a 10 yard curl only to have the QB sacked and the whistle blown before you make your cut.
