I hate how people are acting like Moss will never touch Jerry Rice's Reception TD Record..197 TD's..MOSS has 124..um, Moss is 30yrs old, he is 73 td's away from tying rice's record..so he needs to average 12 td's for the next 6 yrs and the record is done..how is playing now, he might have 17-23 for the next 3 seasons. Since ive been watching Moss (marshall days when i was young and since the 98 vikes) hes only had 1 problem..his hamstring..Moss can play for another 10yrs if he wants due to his amazing ability to avoid contact..how many times have you seen moss get Jacked up? its extremely rare..he only went on nine routes with the vikings so getting jacked up doesnt really happen there, and he didnt go over the middle as much as culpepper never really put him in danger..Moss has had scrubs throwing to him for 9 FRICKIN years...his last 2 yrs at oakland he has totaled 11 td's and like 900 yards..

Point is, aslong as Moss plays football, rice's record is history aslong as he doesnt get a injury that keeps him out for a majority of his football life.
It will shut Jerry Rice up and all the critics..Thank God Moss didnt play with brady since day one, it wouldnt of been fair, im sure you guys remember the moss from 1998-2003 that would turn 3yd screen passes into 80yd world class sprints..he isnt really capable of doing that anymore but he still has amazing hands, is excellent at tracking live balls in the air, and defenses cannot single him or its over..I say Moss gets atleast 25 td's next year for the simple reason that he should of had 30 this year if it wasnt for the OPI and pathetic endzone drops..his concentration should be improved and he will break records..PERIOD

think of how good moss would have been had he not taken two years of his prime and played in oakland. rice always had great qbs throwing to him until late in his career, moss has worked with a number of qbs, almost all of them average or less.

I'm not concerned with that, I just hope he is resigned for next year. I don't think he'll play for another six seasons after this year, maybe sign him to a three year deal or something and see where he is at physically after that.

im a moss fan, but no way does he catch rice... he would need 10 td's/yr until he is 37-38... u know many 37 yr-old's catching 10 td's? nope.
24 aint gonna happen every year bro. (but, i hope it does)

I don't think it'll happen but I won't count it out. Only incase he does it and this thread is revived many years later.

i still worry a little that he will get bored in a year or two and pout again

I dunno, think he likes being in the limelight and his ego is getting fed big time here.. see him more and more becoming BB like with the press..

Moss can certainly reach Rice's numbers. It's all about keeping healthy. There is nothing to suggest he will break down before 36. TO is 34 and just had a great season.

MOSS HAS REALLY COME AROUND ,i used to dislike him alot.BUT I WELCOME HIM WITH OPEN ARMS. i hope he passes any and all records as a patriot!!

Moss missed a bunch of training camp and the preseason with a hamstring injury this past year.

I am not going to bean-count in order to determine how good any of these guys are. Stats are beans. You can only count beans and compare beans for so long and then you end up still in an undetermined state for settling arguments about great players. Randy is a great receiver, and at that Moss-Rice level it does not matter who caught one more ball or TD than the other.

Stats are OK, don't get me wrong. I think they often are abused, though, and become weapons for the mentally-impaired. Suddenly everything is about the beans, the beans, the beans, as if nothing else counts.

except the fact that he has already broken down a few times, and this is only going to get worse as he ages.

he was hurt in both 04 and 06, and missed all of training camp this year.

he has very little chance to catch Rice, b/c it's doubtful he'll remain healthy and just as productive for another 6 or 7 years

Remember that Rice actually has 207 TDs, which is ridiculous if you think about it.

Catching him for receiving TDs would be amazing, but I view 207 as the number to beat where Rice is concerned. Those other 10 TDs weren't all cheapies either. He carried the ball several times, or was pitched or lateralled to.

Randy does have Rice beat, however, on passing TDs. Two to one.

I think every Pats fan would like to see Moss break all of Rice's records, with the Pats and Brady.

But until that is at least within sight, the fact remains that ole' a-hole Mr. Rice is the benchmark by which all others are compared.

So we are all going to have to wait a few years before jumping to conclusions.

Maybe at some point down the road when Moss is clearly closing in on Rice's CAREER production we can even sensibly float the discussion about who is the real GOAT.

LOL. Looks like you fell for BB's "exaggerate the hammy injury to preserve the secret weapon" strategy.

Let's not forget, Rice played till he was 42-43 and had very productive years up til age 40. It's not out of the question for Moss, that is for sure. He likely won't, but the possibility is alive.

Yeah because everybody didn't know that Moss could be a weapon in this Brady-led offense.

WTF? You think Brady will suck when he is 35? What are you smoking? Brady will be here until he retires and so will Moss.
