This is good news. I am glad we get to keep some stability amongst the coaching staff. To the other NFL teams, develop coaching talent inhouse and leave the Pats alone!!!!!!

The Patriot braintrust may be grooming Josh to be BB's successor down the road.

There's probably going to be a ton of openings next year. I don't think Baltimore's a bad situation but he'll have his pick of a lot of opportunities next year I think.

Good!

I personally always thought that McDaniels would be foolish just to jump at the first head coaching job that comes his way. He will be a leading candidate for jobs for years to come and since this year looks slow for coaching vacancies, the next year or two will probably be plentiful.

McDaniels will get his shot at a head coaching job. Why just take anyone that comes his way especially when Belichick can continue to groom him.

McDaniels is so young too. What is he, 31? At this stage of his career he'd be foolish to not stick around and learn as much as he can from Belichick.

Heh... you took the words right out of my mouth.

Josh learned not to make the same mistake as Mangini. Mangini had

only one year's experience as a co-ordinator and was not a very good one.

He would have benefited greatly from another year under BB.

Yes, McDaniels is smart. There is plenty of time....he's only 31. It would be so easy, and probably likely, to have a head coaching fiasco at this age and level of experience. Why not wait a bit, learn more from the greatest ever, and continue to improve his resume?

Smart, smart move.

Just another 'by accident' favor Mangina did for our Pats in 2007! :)

gotta love that kid.he will have a big pay day soon enough! hope he sticks around a long time.

I LOVE THESE PATS::singing:

Josh is 31. Eric was 34 and needed more seasoning before taking the Jets job.

I'll always remember what a Coach said in turning down a Cardinals coaching offer... "You want an Opportunity. NOT a Sentence..." :D

Smart young mensch.

My thoughts exactly. I'm glad he didn't pull a Mangini.

Everybody in Pats team is hot when pats wins 16-0. What would happen if pats goes to 19-0.?

I would imagine pats members will be highly sought because of pats reputation.

it's good to know that Josh is still with Pats and i hope everybody will stay for another 19-0 in 2008. I can't wait for that.

2 seasons of 19-0 for pats.? unarguably THE GREATEST TEAM ever in NFL.

Actually, wasn't he rumored to be at/near the top of the list for the Joakland job last year?

[And on a side note--who would you rather see coaching the team in, say, 2025--Josh McDaniels or Mike Vrabel? :) ]

he may not be the best playcaller and he does make us angry at times as fans but i appreciate what he does and how hes handling this. There are more important things to him than being a HC right now. Hes fully focused here unlike some coaches that left (MANGINA). If he changes his mind later about looking at being a HC..thats fine i guess as long as he doesnt do it while were in process of winning games and as long as he doesnt try to take players/coaches away from us. I think he'll stay..i dont think he wants to go anywhere playoffs or not.

he realizes BB has built a team for the history. He realizes were dominating and this is a special place. His time will come as a head coach but being part of a team like this doesnt come around often

He needs to get a few years under the belt and step into a good situation (like Son of Bum in Dallas or Tomlin in Pittsbugh).

Honestly, I can't think of anybody who would want to coach in Atlanta.

Agreed, and also, he has Brady, Moss, et al to run his play-calls. I think he also looked at Mangina and realized, that maybe, jsut maybe, in his early thrities he still has stuff to learn. Using BB and Brady to do so isn 't a bad gig...
