Question about this whole Belichick "F.U. attitude" thing.

What is the basis for it? Is it because he was caught and punished for violating league rules? In other words, prosecuted for something he actually did? I don't get it.

I hope someone can shed light on this whole puzzling situation. Thanks.

it is because every coach in the league has been doing this "filming" for as long as Halas was a coach and the only one who has been punished is BB and the Pats.

Very nice!

It's because, In Goodell's desperation to prove that he's a tough guy, he punished Belichick FAR too severely, to the point that conspiracy theorists point to the punishment as proof that there must be even more to the story. Then the tapes were destroyed, without any public vindication of the Patriots, leading to even more conspiracy theorism, while coaches and players around the league questioned the validity of the three super bowls. All over a procedural infraction that wasn't even against the rules until last season.

For an analogy (and I hate analogies, but still), it's somewhat akin to getting thrown in jail for going 10mph over the speed limit. Yeah you were speeding, yeah you got caught, but the punishment went so far beyond fitting the crime that it was a joke.

I need to get a poster of this, btw.

It would make a great T-shirt.

Interesting speculation, but not proven. Unlike the Patriots, who were caught red-handed with the EVIDENCE.

I'm sorry, I still don't get the basis for his attitude. Seems kind of like Charles Manson going on an "F.U. Tour" to protest his murder conviction.

You are intentionally trying to stir the pot and I don't like it. If you want to believe that Belichick is the only coach to steal signals than so be it. It's a free country. The rest of us choose to live in the real world where signal stealing is an art form. Jimmy Johnson, Dan Reeves, Mike Shanahan et al have admitted as much. Jimmy Johnson even outed the Colts offensive line coach as the "best in the business at stealing signals."

My take on the F.U. Attitude is the following: After SpyGate broke, a strong contingent of NFL fans (and several players too) spoke out against the Patriots, saying that they only achieved greatness (3 Super Bowls in 4 years) because they cheated. Well, Bill Belichick and the Patriots have gone out this season to show how great their coach and their team really are, regardless of any video tape allegations. In order to show their greatness, they have taken out their anger and frustration on the other teams in the NFL, leaving very little doubt as to how unique and special this organization is.

Please allow me to speak for Bill Belichick when I say, FU*K YOU JAKE LA MOTTA.

Gonna be very difficult to explain to you after your successful humorectomy.

Excellent post, and better than the "he was too severely punished" post earlier. Obviously this is subjective, but I think this take is excellent.

Oh and let me add my own "F.U. JAKE LAMOTTA!" Thanks.

Guess you took to many shots to the head.....a mind is a terrible thing to waste......sorry you don't have one anymore......

Yeah, I mean the guy just gets SOOO disrespected by the media... no wonder he needs to go on that F.U. Tour. You tell 'em, poor little persecuted man!

Again, missing the point. The issue that the F.U. addresses is the one that says "your past championships are tainted", now he's saying "How do you like me now?" And from your continued posting and complaining on the Pats fans' message board, I think you like it fine.

Awesome...thanks TheSparks1!

He is neither poor, nor little.

You forgot to add... "nor persecuted."

Sorry Joke Lambada, you're to pathetic to make the FU list, but you've earned my early vote for troll of year.

Congratulations!

not proven...several coaches have said (Jimmy Johnson and the old GM of the Titans for starters) that all teams do the filming of plays...the Pats were just in the wrong place. The Jets filmed our second game with them from the fricken concourse. there have been countless stories of Halas listen and bugging the visitors locker room.

You are such a frickin tool
