Atlanta requests permission to speak to McDaniels

He is teh hot guy this year..too young..he is smarter than many to just leave..look at EM..he left and...flop flop...not ready...way over his head..thought he knew it all...

Realistically we should expect him to be a candidate for most vacancies. Viewed from the outside he would certainly appear to be a good potential hire. But I wouldn't view him as being a likely hire anywhere, particularly not in toxic environments like Baltimore or Atlanta where the situation requires a hard ass to get in there and impose discipline in the locker room.

if i hv to be honest i'm a little bit surprised about this strong interest on him
(allready two teams)

he looks a very good coach but i suppose he is too young for that role...or i miss something ?

I am very surprised that everyone is hot for McDaniels. I would think that people would look at "The Rat" and at Petrino and realize that inexperience isn't always better.

At least with Jason Garrett, he's got pro level playing experience. Something that McDaniels doesn't have. Garrett would be a better candidate than McDaniels, who only has 2 years of OC experience.

Is Atlanta really trying to be competitive or are they just trying to fill seats.
How dull do you have to be to think that the record setting Pats offense is due to McDaniels?
I think JMD will turn down offers at this point.
At least I think he should.

Avoid Atlanta like the plague. A bad team owned by a fool. Populated with thugs. Dont do what Manweenie did and ruin your career.

This is a downside of success. I hate this "exodus".

i think (imho) that the biggest impact, emotionally, was when we lost Romeo and Charlie W.

ps = are you ready for the Play-offs ?

Everybody in here needs to calm down. These teams are looking at all of their options. I just read at PFT that this is just the beginning for the Ravens. They plan on interviewing 30 CANDIDATES.

BISCIOTTI EYEBALLING 30 CANDIDATES

As the Baltimore Ravens begin to search for a replacement for former coach Steve Bisciotti, Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that the team has discussed a whopping 30 possible candidates for the job.

The first wave of interviews will consist of the assistant coaches currently working for teams that have first-round playoff byes. Per Schefter, the Ravens have sought permission to interview Cowboys assistants Tony Sparano and Jason Garrett, Colts assistant Jim Caldwell, and Pats offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.

Next week, the Ravens will begin interviewing available assistants from teams no longer playing.

Since Bisciotti has never hired a head coach before, our guess is that he'll do it right -- and that he'll offer plenty of money to whomever he ultimately targets.
This is all part of the process. The Falcons are interviewing the same people. The Falcons are going to Dallas on Friday to interview two Dallas Assistants Tony Sparano and Jason Garrett. These two guys are THE REAL HOT CANDIDTATES. Everybody wants to interview them.
Josh deserves some recognition though. Why not? He's the Coordinator of the #1 offense in the league. IMHO, he's done a good job as our OC, but I'm just not sure if he has enough experience to manage an entire team.

I am ready, my friend. I will watch the first Pats game from Hong Kong. The games after that will depend on what the Pats do...

I know YOU are ready.

I think we're all just hoping for continuity that will lead to consistent excellence. Not too much to calm own about, since I'm not sure that anyone is freaking out.

I agree, some continuity would be nice. But I sensed a small degree of panic. Just a little. :D That's why I threw out the words "calm down".

As long as BB is around, coaching is the one thing I will not panic about. There are so many other things to freak out about!

You are so right. BB is involved with the overall coaching of this team more than some realize.

I'm a believer in we win despite McDaniels, not because of him IMO. That being said, I'd like for him to stay so we can at least have some continuinty.

Is he still under contract? Can we get a draft pick for him?

I've heard alot about the great chemistry that McDaniels and Brady have. If McDaniels makes Tommy a happier boy, then that alone is very valuable.

NO, you would only get compensation, if it was a lateral move, any NFL team, can offer an employee of another team a job, as long as the job being offered is a step up from the job they currently have. SO MCDaniels would go from the Offensive Coordinator to the Head Coach.

Also the NFL does not like the draft pick for coaches thing and frowns on it.

Totally agree..and this is why Mangini, was exposed as a mere Padawhan.

How many times do we see BB step in and provide hands on expertise when the Pats are in a bind? During the Colts game NFLN showed footage of him instructing the linebackers how to stop Addai. I still remember him with a clipboard saying "Teddy...You set the edge". We all saw the improvement in the second half.

What do you mean by compensation? Money?
