No, Tennessee couldn't beat Indy because there is no way for them to play one another in the play-offs except in the AFCCG. I'm pretty sure that the Titans (6th seed) would play the Pats if the Titans win this week against the Chargers.

the titans did play them into overtime a couple of weeks ago. i think they have a shot is hainesworth has a monster game and they can take some shots downfield. i still think the chargers are suspect in the secondary despite cromartie's great year.

There are too many offensive threats in the AFC tournament to win with small ball.

They did, although it was in Tennessee and SD outplayed them by more than the score indicated. But, as you said, if Haynesworth is close to 100% and they can slow down Tonlinson you have a shot putting the ball in Rivers' hands. The Titans looked horrible against Indy, though, so it's a real longshot.

I agree completely.. They won't be able to stop LT, who could score a couple of rushing TDs

Off topic slightly but if we end up playing Jacksonville it will be their 3rd straight road game - although many starters didn't play @ Hou, those multi city road trips aren't generally good for teams.

the bid right now on Trade Sports, which usually gets these things right on the win/loss but not on the spread, says there's a 78% chance that San Diego wins. i'd agree. there's about a one in five chance that the Titans win and face the pats.

I'm not sure where you got this idea. SD had to have a furious 4th quarter comeback from a 17-3 deficit to even put the game into OT, scoring the tying TD in the final minute. Frankly, TN's DL just killed SD's OL for almost that entire game. SD was extremely lucky to be only down the 14 points that they were.

That said, I do expect SD to win but the game will be closer than many think. SD's late season run has been entirely on creampuffs.

I was looking at the final stats - looking at the drive charts it was fairly even except for a Titan flurry at the end of the 3rd and then a Charger flurry at the end of the 4th.

Here's about all it takes in the playoffs to beat a favored team, even on the road:

1 great special teams return, and at least a +1 in the turnover department.

Sometimes it doesn't even take that much -- a crucial penalty, a blown coverage, a missed 30-40 yard field goal, etc.

But if a team is capable of returning a punt or a kickoff for a TD (or at least down near the red zone), and can get one more turnover than its opponent, they can win. So when I read these "any chance" posts, that's what I think -- one big return, one big turnover.

I think there's a reasonable chance. Tennessee had the Chargers on the ropes by two TDs before they came back and won in OT. And the Chargers still have not beaten any good teams beyond a beat up Indy squad, so I'm not impressed with them.

The Titans match up well against San Diego. Haynesworth, when healthy, was the best interior DL-man in the league this year. If he's close to 100% this Sunday, he and Van Den Bosch(sp?) along with those LBs can keep LT in check and force Rivers to come up big. Tennessee's secondary can be had, but I don't think Rivers is the guy to do it. I don't expect Tennessee's offense to light up the scoreboard, so it will come down to their D.

To echo what many have said, I think they do have a chance.

I don't think Tennesee is all world, but I think they are solid. I think the SD QB and coach could be negatives and often are negatives and could cause SD to lose more than Tenn would beat them.
