I say Left Tackle. You need to spend a rare high pick like that to get a stud at LT.

What do you guys think?

Laurinitis is a need pick, LT I think would be a luxury pick.

It's a no-brainer that a LB is the biggest need.

I would imagine we'd go for a RT before a left? Thats if we even believe we need a tackle. As far as prospect go, to be honest I dont have a clue about most of them so it'll be interesting for me to see what we do with the pick. If we even pick that high.

To be honest, I'm a little excited :D

Yes, RT is a greater need for us, but LTs go really high. We normally don't get the chance to draft so high. We could always move Light.

NEWS FLASH: Matt Light is a Pro Bowler. Why would we draft someone to play a position we already have filled?

LB. DEFINITELY. Save the myths about BB not wanting to draft LBs.

Jake Long Michigan would be my pick. Take care of the turnstile at RT

I can see why they would yes. I think we have more pressing needs though like ILB.

Gholston with #1 and a cb at #2

I'm thinking it will be James Laurinitis.

I am definitely a subscriber of the 'planet-theory' when drafting that high, assuming there is a big body worthy of a pici that high. I think it depends on what the Pats are going to do with R.Seymour/Ty Warren/V.Wilfork - if they do not think that they will be able to keep that trio together, or they want to switch to more of a 4-3 look, I could see them picking one of the big DT's (Ellis or Okam). There seems to be a good crop of OT prospects as well.

I can't imagine them making the pick at #7, unless they fall in love with someone (unlikely). I see them trading down to get a little more value, or one of the CBs.

If Asante Samuel departs via unrestricted free agency, I anticipate the New England Patriots will select a cornerback, Terrell Thomas from USC or Antoine Cason from Arizona.

As for Ohio State linebacker James Laurinaitis, he has yet to declare early for the 2008 NFL Draft.

Maualuga! Anyone else see him against Illinois today? Looked great in coverage, against the run, blitzing the QB.

I want to see how Laurinaitis does against LSU, but I think Maualuga is precisely what we need.

I think CB, presumably after a trade down.

I imagine the Pats will try to trade our #1 and #2 for another team's still-high #1 plus their #2, or something like that.

Maualuga has stated he will return to USC for his senior year.

I'm not sure using a high pick for LB is the best idea. I think they should trade for more picks or get someone on the DL (down the road, no way we afford everyone on the DL). But no doubt LB is a huge need this offseason.

Newsflash: To develop the player at RT so he gets used to the speed of the game and so that he can step in during 2009 at LT and move Light to RT...

BB has been about replacing players a year or two in advance of needing them.

Stranger things have happened, but I don't see the Pats holding on to the #7 pick. I wouldn't be surprised to see them trade down with Dallas so they can add two quality players instead of one.

So he is already planning to replace Matt Light two years in advance and at the same time planning on replacing linebackers two years late?
