IndyStar forum: No individual records in team sports

I think some of you are missing the point here. These people were using direct quotes of Pats fans from the 2004 season when personal records didn't mean anything. Move forward to 2007 and now they mean everything. and are indicative of everything.

Quite right, & I'm sure everyone in the Pats locker room is adopting the mindset that all playoff teams are now 0-0 too.

While no one is suggesting that Brady threw TD passes to himself we're reveling in the same sort of quotes and ideals by those Brady bashers in Colt country.

Everyone always wondered what would happen if Brady had a 1000 yard caliber WR on his team - let alone multiple ones that Manning's had for his entire career. We know the Patriots don't NEED 1000 yd WRs to win multiple Super Bowls, but just for arguments sake with those convinced Manning is better, we always thought it would be interesting to see what would happen.

Now we know. Give Brady weapons similar to those that Manning had and he has a perfect regular season under his belt.

Of course, we'll never know how many TD passes Brady could throw in the same dome conditions that Manning had. With Brady having played only one game in a dome all year, I think even Colts fans will agree that the 50 TD passes would be much higher if Brady had the same conditions Manning had in his favor, no?

55 TDs? 60? What do you think ColtinIraq? Just for fun... take a guess.

If Peyton had the receivers that Brady has, he's set records too...........

(trying to keep a straight face).................

Oh stop embarrassing folks here with facts. They know how hypocritical it is for pats fans to take such pleasure in records and stats now, and for the same posters to have said they have meant nothing for Manning, Harrison and Favre over the years.

Of course there is homerism and biased views. It's impossible not to be if you are truly a fan of a certain side. It is implicit when you say you are a fan of a team.

What is your point? It's like saying the sun is bright.

If you claim to try to be as objective as possible, then you're really just a neutral observer, you're not really a fan of a team. And you don't feel as good as fans do when the team wins, and don't feel as bad when the team loses. You're just a neutral observer if you're not biased to some degree.

The fact of the matter is some of those Colts' fans, not all mind you, but some are just insecure about their boy losing the record. They cry about how Manning did in less time, and playing only one series of the last game. And they would hate to admit that playing in a dome contributes to TD totals. But just look at what Manning did last year in the months of December and January playing away from that dome in those months. In four road games in open air stadiums in winter elements, against Jacksonville, TN, Houston and Baltimore, he threw 4 TDs and 5 INTs. Not exactly record shattering #s. Colts fans imo are amongst the most delusional and insecure you'll ever see.

I love this sad defense about how PM's total greatness is encapsulated in reaching 49 in 15 games.

I must have read/heard that comment a hundred times, so I guess this is the popular spin.

PM took more games to get to 10, 20 and 30 TDs....but having one more TD after 15 games clearly makes him better than a guy who plays in friggin Nor'easters with a completely new receiving corps while putting up FIFTY and throwing for MORE YARDS, HIGHER COMPLETION % and smashing the nfl scoring record ON FEWER POSSESSIONS than the 2004 Colts had.

good one horsey fans :rofl::eat3:

but I'm afraid you will have to suck it now.

Like some one on this forum said, "What ever floats their boat.."

According to the ESPN survey on whether you would like to see the Pats go 16-0 or not, 45% of the nation did not want the Pats to go 16-0. About 12% were for it. About 19% did not like the Pats were for it. 7% or so were for some team to get that record.

The fun part was that from the state of Indiana, 81% voted that they did not want to see Pats go 16-0, by far the highest %. Even Florida came in at around 53%. Considering that it wasn't even the Colts record to begin with, they so desperately wanted to see the Pats lose.:D :D

The Colts' fans are running out of arguments pretty quickly. When we talk about rings, they bring up stats, now we can bring up stats too.

actually when you think about it, and Im not trying to trash talk either, why would people in Indiana want to see the Pats go 16-0? when was this poll ran? It might have been ran when the Colts actually still had an outside chance of catching the Pats, so it would be normal for people in Indiana to not want to see the Pats go 16-0 because that would mean the Colts would have no chance to catch the Pats..now I am just assuming this poll was ran when the Colts were still in the race for the number 1 seed..

Hey, I'm in Danvers, but post frequently on Indystar.com...

Went there several years ago to be a troll, but found there are a lot of intelligent football fans there... This is not one of them, sure, but I like it over there. I can be found posting under the same username.

Hey Rodney, whats up? Glad you posted that on the Indystar forum. I wish Colts fans would just move on and start talking about the playoffs but all they want to talk about is why Brady don't deserve this record for one reason or another..its a 16 game season and Brady broke the record fair and square in some pretty crappy weather at times, so my hats off to Brady and the Pats..

More than likely my only post in this forum.

Congrats to the New england Patriots. 16-0 amazing.

Congrats to Tom Brady 50 TD's was crazy as it was crazy when PM threw 49 in 2004.

Congrats to Randy Moss what a return to the big time. He was unstoppable.

I would think that Colts fans would want to talk San Diego but if they want to look ahead to NE then that's their business. Hopefully the team isn't doing the same.

We don't know what team to talk about, odds are we will play SD but Im not about to look ahead because I think the Titans can give SD one hell of a game, then that would send the Titans to you and we get the Pitt Jags winner.

Because he wants to talk football and not be a troll, unlike yourself.
