So I'm watching the NFL's Top 10 - Single Season Performances on the NFL Network.

They rank Peyton Manning's 49 TD season as the #1 single season performance. :D

But what I thought was really interesting was what they said about Roger Craig:

Narrator: Since 1985 only Marshall Faulk has gained 1000 yards rushing and receiving in a single season, so why was Craig's performance more impressive?

Commentator #1: "Disqualify Marshall Faulk automatically for playing in a dome and playing on astroturf."

Commentator #2: "I think the impressive thing was that he did it in San Francisco, on bad turf, on bad fields in December, and I don't want to take anything away from Marshall, but he's indoors, perfect condition, know where every step is."

Commentator #3: "You slip and fall outdoors on grass. It takes a little more. So I'm not dogging Marshall Faulk, but more credit to Roger."

And if the Pats go 19-0, the Dolphins' performance will still be better because it took them only 17 games.

Can I get an Eff You?

That's just great. Even admitting to the whole dome business, they still like Peyton better...yeesh

I'd be willing to bet this was a piece produced prior to this weekend...

I watched with amusement as the commentators lauded PMS as the greatest QB and Mario fawning over him all the while knowing that this would be the first and last time PMS is ever number 1 in this show.

I really like the fact that all of the interviews with the comments about this will stand forever having to be redone and only 3 seasons later.LOL

Another point was they must have this aired now because it was already out dated when they showed it, LOL, all that production expense and it gets to air once. I LOVE IT.

This show was produced before this season. It's outdated.

Oh yeah, definitely. It wasn't my intention to imply that it wasn't. Obviously nobody in their right mind would rank 49 TDs over 50. Not even the media! What I meant to indicate was that (a) Brady has supplanted Manning at the top of the list; and (b) he did it under more difficult conditions.... Which of course we already know.

What about Bill Clinton? He knows how to make sex disappear, so why couldn't he make a TD disappear?

Exactly. No need for Pats fans to be so sensitive.

You missed the point. OP says :...But what I thought was really interesting was what they said about Roger Craig:"

It was really revealing to read about how some experts viewed Mr. Faulk's achivements. Now that I realize Mr. Faulk had it more easy to put such impressive #s, it makes it easy for me NOT give him that high marks as a great RB

I am sure that the current experts (meaning those who will be on the to-be-updated portion of this program) will mention these significant points when comparing the QB performances...

Exactly I remember it from last summer, they will redo it plus I thopught that Sammy Baugh of the Washington Redskins 1943 season was more impresive. That season he lead the league in passing, pass interceptions, and punting.
