Tom Jackson: "Patriots are chippy"

Re: Tom Jackson:"Patriots are chippy"

Surprised anyone listens to this guy. He, Marshall Faulk, Shannon Sharpe, and Steve Young are in a unique category of ex-jocks to whom I pay zero attention. They are dead to me.
I don't know how you put Steve Young in with those guys. Steve's a smart guy who tries to put a considered opinion out there. The other two are neuron-challenged. OT, but it was nice to see Tony Gonzalez pass Shannon no-so-Sharpe on Sunday for most catches ever by a TE.

Tom Jackson is Berman's longtime sidekick. I'd better leave it at that.

Re: Tom Jackson:"Patriots are chippy"

The only reason to watch ESPN's Sunday show is comic relief. Watching the looks on the other panelists faces when the P word invariably comes up and they all immediately glance in Jackson's direction. There is this very slight underlying vibe as well though, like they are all half expecting him to go postal. Keyshawn is really having some fun with it. By the end of their segment Jackson usually looks like he's just survived another weekly rectal exam with a roto rooter.

Re: Tom Jackson:"Patriots are chippy"

Tom Jackson is an idiot who hates Belichick and is despised by Belichick. He came up with revelation that Belichick lost control of the team when he cut Milloy. A total zero.

Re: Tom Jackson:"Patriots are chippy"

Marshall Faulk , Tom Jackson, and Chris Collingsworth all should go to a new yrs eve party together and toast thier hatred of the patriots together..

Re: Tom Jackson:"Patriots are chippy"

I dont mind Jackson. Yeah, he has that slant but I dont mind him. Marshall Faulk is stomach-churning. Seriously, I have never seen one of these ex-players-turn-announcers hold such a grudge. He will be bitter about that SB loss until he dies.

OK, fair enough, I'll explain. Young appears very uncomfortable any time he's discussing New England, and was very critical when spygate unfolded. His reaction at the time was over the top. Jealousy? I believe he has Marshall Faulk disease in that while he was a great HOF QB, he appears very uncomfortable in any discussion about Brady and the Pats. Now, like many media talking heads of late, he's had to reluctantly acknowledge the extraordinary season the Pats have had, but it's like he's doing so while undergoing a root canal. His unabashed criticism in the beginning of the season outed him, and I'm just not seeing an objective ex-jock whose comfortable enough in his own skin to give credit to another playing his position. It's almost like it's a zero-sum game to Steve, where when another gets credit, he feels it reduces his importance some.

As for Shannon, yes, he too has jumped on the Pats bandwagon of complimentary media heads. What choice does he have, unless he wants to appear to be a complete fool? But even more so, I just don't hear him adding any high-quality analysis to the broadcast. He's excellent at stating the obvious. And by the way, great TV voice and diction!

Forgot Steve Young is bringing the champagne to the Pats haters party

Re: Tom Jackson:"Patriots are chippy"

My thought: So what if they're chippy. This isn't Pop Warner. You need to have a little edge to you and I don't think anyone can say our team doesn't have a little edge to them.

Re: Tom Jackson:"Patriots are chippy"

he definitely needs to get a life. Keeping telling pats team this and that does not do him any good when pats wins SB this season.

Re: Tom Jackson:"Patriots are chippy"

Tom Jackson gets "chippy" when talking about the Patriots.

Exactly. I saw it when he said it and he had prefaced the chippiness statement with reminicsing about how humble the Pats used to be. Now there's "chippiness" ... which I took to mean that the Pats have an attitude and/or are full of themselves.

And Tom Jackson had an attitude when he said it.

Does anyone ever read the whole link? The OP accuses Jackson as being a hater and conveniently ignores this quote:

Tom Jackson: “The Patriots played their best ball in the fourth quarter (against the Giants) … Last night they asked him (Tom Brady) to throw the ball 43 times. He didn’t make a single mistake during the course of the night and that’s what he’s done all year.”

Old time players don't have a different view of what "chippy" is. They did have a different way of letting someone know about it. I'll give him a pass on this one.

Tom Jackson was being chippy when he said that the pats are chippy.

Now i'm being chippy about both their chippiness and this chippiness is going to rub off on everyone that i see tonight.

By mid-next week, the number of chippy individuals will be in the billions.

There is no stopping us.

Just accept that.

Can I be your chippamunky buddy?

Did you take some happy juice Keegs? You're killing me lately.

Tom Jackson has been "chippy" ever since Bill Belichick owned the f*ck out of him after SB 38.

"Now go home and get your f*ckin' shinebox."

I saw this segment on ESPN. Keyshawn was trying to hold back his laughter at the end, with the biggest smirk on his face. It was hilarious.

I love Keyshawn. I mean sure, he's pro-Pats, but that's not the whole reason why I like him. He just seems to me to have the best and most sensible analysis of all teams. He's not overly dramatic like some others. I like Deion on NFLN too, but he can be a bit over the top.

I am sure if Harrison and some others played on other teams we would hate them but every team has players like that. I don't see them as chippy but I wish they wouldn't spend so much time jawing, once the play is over move onto the next play.
