This comes one day after FOX Sports reported that the players and other employees informed team owner Steve Biscotti that Billick had completely lost the locker room and could not win them back.

This could be a really good move for them to get a fresh voice in there.

I bet if you asked AD off the record he would say, 'bout time. It's bad enough when the players have ego issues, when the coach has his own it's the kiss of death. He ruined what should have been a dominant team for a decade because of his "offensive" guru ego. And he couldn't get his players to deposit their's at the door because he couldn't deposit his ever.

I think Billick problem is one that many coaches have.
He does not have control and in some cases, respect of his players.
That's Ray Lewis's team.
I feel bad for the next poor sob who walks through that door.

My guess is the Patriots would value his defensive input

I like Billick, and I think Belichick has expressed a high amount of respect for him in the past.

Billick as I'm sure everyone recalls stood up for Belichick following Spygate and took a nice swipe at MangIdiot as well. But memories are short around here for that sort of thing I guess and everyone wants to pile on this guy's firing.

I think he's a bit of a scapegoat for a poor season - but at the end of the day he couldn't bring in the right coaches or players to turn a bad offense around and its his responsibility.

I suspect someone will snatch him up as a coach or coordinator pretty quickly. Parcells could do FAR worse in Miami than to bring Billick in for either role.

So? He's still an a-hole and a crappy coach, to boot. His ego is immense, and he never takes any responsibility for his failures. He's the anti-Patriot.

Not that I dislike Billick but IIRC Billick made some kind of complaint about the Jets shouting out snap counts in an attempt to trick his offense.
Some took that as an indirect jab at Mangini but Billick later backed off the statement saying that he didn't mean to make it sound like that.
He clearly did not want any part of that ****storm.

I agree with this. As long as the team has Ray Lewis potentially undermining any new coach in public (as he did with Billick); I doubt they can attract any decent head coach to that job.

They should trade/cut Ray Lewis (if contract permits). That would give the new coach some freedom to take control.

This may affect the draft a little bit. New coaches almost always take a QB in their first draft. It'll be interesting if the new Ravens coach will want to trade up a few spots in order to snag a qb. I think I have an idea of a team that might be willing to move down a couple spots.

That's a real high stress job and a lot of coaches who've stayed around have done this. Vermeil and Parcells come to mind.

Parcells would have been dead if not for the enforced time off.

He stood up and then he backpedaled. He's had a couple of bad seasons sandwiched around a couple of mediocre seasons sandwished around a couple of hollow seasons. All because he thought he had more to do with the 2000 win than any player on his offense, at the least.

If Bill hired him in Miami, who would do the press conferences... who would get the credit for the turnaround or blame the other if it doesn't materialize...LOL What the hell has he coordinated well lately...

BTW Belichick expresses respect for all his coaching peers, just like his teams opponents. Don't read more into that than you should. Bill doesn't have many friends among the current coaching ranks, egos being what they are at the position. His friends tend to be smart and secure old school types and guys not named Mangini he raised up from nothing.

I think what BB would truly respect is Billick's former defensive strong safety's input.

I think the Pats had an indirect hand in getting Billick fired. It all started going downhill for him in the 2003 draft when he swapped picks with the Pats and moved up to select Kyle Boller.
