Dungy not calling a TO last night

I thought it was piss-poor. If he called a TO at the end of the game, it would've forced the Titans to at least run 1 more play - obviously the odds of a turnover happening would've been astronomical, but at least act like you give a s*&$ about the game. I have no problem with sitting starters in a meaningless game, but I couldn't believe he did that, especially when another team's playoff hopes were at stake. I know the Colts don't owe the Browns anything, but I think it would've been a respectful gesture to call the TO. Even Michaels and Madden kind of got on them for not doing so.

If the Colts had already decided they didn't care about the game, why bother? It just wastes everyone's time. For example, Coughlin annoyed me for calling a meaningless timeout against the Pats on Saturday.

It was, of course, the Colts prerogative to treat the game however they wanted. As far as I'm concerned Manning, Wayne, Addai, Clark etc didn't even have to play a snap.

But, the not calling a TO didn't sit well with me. If you're playing to win the game, then you play to win the game. Don't play for 58 mins, and then essentially tell your backups their performances were irrelevant.

I'm sure Polian and Fisher will have a good laugh about it at the competition committee.

When Belichick treats a game however he wants, he gets bashed for running up the score. When Dungy does it, it's his own perogative.

Ironic, the guy who goes all out and plays honest is the bad guy. I'm sure the Redskins' feelings aren't hurt as badly as the Browns' are right now.

I think he was exposed a bit on national television. As was his lone backup QB who just got signed to the 3 year pricey extension on what has to be the Friends of Peyton plan. Tony actually looked a little nauseaus watching Sorgi flail around and get the snot beat outa him. While the usually ultra competitive Manning just looked oddly and somewhat disingenuously empathetic. I think he likes having a thoroughly uncompetitive backup he can openly play OC too every now and then lest the good folks in Indy lose sight of the fact that he is the entire franchise, Sanders and Freeney and Harrison and Wayne et al notwithstanding.

Sorry for the questions, there is just quite the big deal about the entire integrity of the head coach and the entire team and I don't know the circumstances.

It was 1st and 10 and the Colts had one TO left with 1:54 to go. They chose to not use the TO and not force the Titans to run a play on 4th down.

It just seemed out of odds with playing hard for 58 mins.

Thanks for the info. I guess if I'm in Cleveland, I'm ticked that the Colts didn't make them punt and try to run it back, if I'm reading that right. Would a Timeout had forced a punt?

Yep. It would have been 4th down on the Colt 20-something, so they would have either tried a decent length FG (chance of block), a punt (chance of bad snap), or a play to run off some more time.

I'd estimate there was a 0.00001% chance of the Colts making a comeback, but it just felt odd that they didn't want to try.

I wasn't bothered for Cleveland (they blew their own chances), but I sat and watched a game for 3 hours only to essentially be told "ah that'll do for tonight". I expect many Colt fans in attendance felt the same.
