In a game, with playoff implications for the Browns, where is the outrage against the Colts for treating this game as if it is meaningless??

Everyone was all ready to pounce on the Giants had they rested their players against us.....why not a word about the chicken Colts??

Where is King and Collingsworth and all the other mediots on this issue??

In the spirit of good sportsmanship, they owe it to the Browns, both teams fans and the NFL in general.

Talk about classless?? Come on Polian & Dungy.......

I'm no Tom Couglin fan but I commend him for getting and letting his team play last night. I think if they now lose to the Bucs next week he's going to take a beating for it, but I think he did a good thing.

Re: Outrage Vs the Colts...Where is it???

Why the pass on what they ARE doing...NOT doing?? It's the Colts...SAINT Dungy is above criticism...OF COURSE!!

Re: Outrage Vs the Colts...Where is it???

Colts are worthless from the owner right on down to manning can you say COWARDS

Not quite national media, but on the fan in NY, Mike and the Mad dog were going off for the last 2 weeks about two things, Coughlin sitting his starters against the Pats and the Browns getting screwed by the Colts.... They both were saying, your paid to play, so play, every game......

Re: Outrage Vs the Colts...Where is it???

I'm in the camp of it's the Browns own damned faulk they are dependent on a Colts victory. If they had won last week they wouldn't have this problem. Colts can play or not play, it's up to them. They've earned the right to rest.

That being said, the media are still hypocrites.

im with you...

i echoed the same sentiments in the 'late games' thread about the cowboys-skins game. same situation, and troy aikman was saying the boys had no reason to leave the starters in... and unlike the giants, they have TWO weeks to rest. just goes to show NOBODY outside of patriot nation wants us going undefeated

Because they wanted to see the Pats lose their final game vs the Giants, and they could care less what "Saint" Dungy does with his "under the radar" team.

because the colts are not headline worthy.... their coach could go on a killing spree and it would just be a side note on every sport show...

bottom line... colts are boring...

I noticed that most folks are consistent. There are some who felt both the Giants and Colts ought play their starters, and those who said neither. But haven't heard anyone say the Giants must, but it is okay for the colts not to.

I didn't see many people media ready to attack the Giants, I saw more saying the Giants should have better prepared for the playoffs.

"The media" is not one homogenous opinion, on any issue there is a wide range from one extreme to the other. Of course most will let the Colts slide, but most of those would have let the Giants slide had they done the same.

All the time here I see outrage at supposedly comflicting media opinions, when if you look carefully most of the time individual media sources are consistent.

This way when Bob Costas is apologizing about he Colts losses he could add "of course they didn't play their first stringers the whole game" along with "If not for an inconceivable miss by Adam Vinatieri" and "should have beaten the Patriots except for ten minutes" The Indianapolis Colts would be the ones basking in the "Glow of Perfection". Followed by the mumbled "Mother #$@%^% Patriots.

People have known for months (years) that Dungy sits out many of his starters when the game isn't important to the colts. We discussed it a couple of weeks ago. The most here disagreed with the colts strategy, but few disagreed with the right of the colts to do what was best for the colts.

The Browns were under no illusions. They understood that they need to beat Cinci to get in the playoffs. The failed to win when it counted.

As you are already aware, the Colts have earned the right to treat this game as anything they want.

They "owe it" to the Browns?? Classless? What in the world are you talking about? It's called strategy and preserving your star players. Now if you have a beef about how the Giants played you guys, then fine. If you have a beef about how the media covered it, fine. But I dont think its the same comparison IMO.

Leave it to a Chargers assclown to stick his nose somewhere it doesn't belong; if I were you, I'd worry more about how your pack of cry babies plan on going to Indy and winning (assuming they win next week, which in itself is a whole other ball of wax)...............

im pretty sure his post was sarcastic.

if im the colts id have rested my starters as well.

but fact is, giants had as little if not less incentive than teams like the colts/cowboys/jags/bucs yet there was a huge media buzz around forcing them to play their starters. i got no beef with how any individual team handled their games, but the media hypocricy is clearly there

Well, since we've beaten Indy the past two times (including at RCA), Im not terribly worried about it. But that's more than you can say. And it is my business when the fans on this forum cry about EVERYTHING known to man in this league, especially pertaining to the Colts. You guys call us whiners? You girls cry and bit*h about everything you view as insubordiation to your team. And when fan of another team points out the same issues, you call them a whiner. Poor Pats fans are victimized again....this time its the media...again.

Why do you think the Giants had any less incentive than Indy? I would say it was more. As one NY player put it, I believe it was Strahan, they could go down in history one way or the other. Either the team that stopped NE from a perfect season, or the final team to be beaten in that endeavor. That's pretty decent motivation. And as far as the media buzz....of course it was all about the NE/Giants game, because you guys are the talk of the league right now. The media has to ride that gravy train to the bitter end.

Hey dumbass, we won there earlier this year. Newsflash we won EVERY game this year.

Have fun losing to the Titans next week, loser.
