allright, the first wave of games just finished, a lot of losing records teams won, and SF lost, which should propel our pick rit? anyone who knows more, plz respond...

i wanna keep my eyey out to see where their pick lands...

Our draft pick will be #6 or #7

Assuming SF has the worst strength of schedule amongst the teams with 4 or 5 wins (as others have already posted), we will draft #6 or #7:

SF finishes with a record of 5-11.

There are three teams with 4-11 records - NYJ, KC, and Oak. But NYJ plays KC later today so (barring a tie) one of them will have 5 wins and will draft behind SF based on strength of schedule. We would thus draft #7, behind the six teams with 4 or fewer wins.

If Oak is able to upset SD (unlikely, given that SD is playing for the #3 playoff seed, but possible) they would also have 5 wins; hence, we would draft #6.

The 2007 pick we traded for SF's pick this year was #28. #28 for #7 (in a better, deeper draft) is another great move by our front office.

Also, I think based on our 16-0 finish our own draft pick this year (the one that was taken from us) would have been no higher than #30.

The Jets are 3-12, so we need KC to win because they are 4-11.

Re: Week 17 49's Pick update

I'm wondering if I should be roting for a KC or Jets win today? A Jets win would obviously make their pick worse but would a KC win which would give them 5 move the Niners pick up a spot?

Re: Our draft pick will be #6 or #7

Ravens, Chiefs and Raiders are the 4 win teams still playing. All 3 could win their games since they don't play one another. The Raiders are playing the Chargers, so that's probably the most likely loss. Baltimore and Kansas City have both got good changes to win.

NEver root for the Jets, rule #1.
And yes a KC win improves the Pats 49er's pick. So definitely root for KC in this one.

BTW the Browns have officially beat the 49ers 20-7.
This assures that our pick will be no worse than #8.

Also looking round the league, the games we need to keep an eye on are the Raiders, Chiefs, and Ravens. If any of these teams win, the 49er's pick improves.

Not to mention we used the 4 we got to trade for some wideout who at least contributed a little...Probably more than we would have gotten with a rookie.

Yup basically we turned the pick we gave to the 9ers into two high 1st round picks. Moss certainly played like a first rounder, and then we're getting #7 or better pick in 2008. Talk about a gravy train! :) Thx Raiders for the gift!

I'll take it.

Don't forget we get their 3rd round pick this year to :)

Haha that's right. The Raiders are so considerate... LOL. Hope we pluck another gem with that high 3rd rounder, that should sit well with the Raiders fans! ;)

Re: Week 17 49's Pick update

Baltimore 17-0 :rocker:
oakland 7-7
KC 0-7 :bricks:

Doh! How did I mess that up? Great analysis based on faulty premise = garbage in garbage out, right? :D

KC is trailing the Jets 7-0, but, Baltimore is the other 4-11 team, and they are beating Pittsburgh 17-7 right now.

Don't forget SD and the Raiders are tied with 3:00 minuts to go in the 2nd quarter :)

Baltimore 20 Steelers 7 11:46 left in Q3 - Charlie Batch QB for Pit
Jets 10 KC 3 11:40 left in Q3
SD 17 Oak 10 12:47 left in Q3

If those scores hold we will have pick #7...

Re: Our draft pick will be #6 or #7

Atlanta won today and is now sitting at 4-12. Not sure how the strength of schedule works out, but that might have some barring on where we pick.

No bearing; SF has 5 wins.

Baltimore now leading Pitt 27-7 with 3:41 left in Q3 - #7 looking good.

Only barring is we might have the pick after Atlanta. SF has 5 wins and a weak SOS, so the only teams we need to root for today are the 4 win teams Baltimore, KC, and Oakland.

I'm REALLY hoping Oakland wins, because they are the team that doesn't need a QB and will probably take a player that the Pats want.
