Unofficially, Welker and Whosyourmomma from Cincy both finished with 112 catches. Very Probowl worthy, I must say.

Yeah, it was either Welker or Housh and Housh went since other than number of catches (tie) his season was statistically superior to Welker's.

It makes no sense to me to have that few WRs at the Pro Bowl and then to select fullbacks.

Ridiculous.

If yards after catch were an official stat, would Wes lead the league? Awesome year for Welker.

If welker were selected who would you leave out, Braylon Edwards???

He led fan voting as a kick returner. Even if he wasn't as good a returner as, say, Leon Washington, he deserves the Pro Bowl bid more. Certainly did more for the Patriots than Washington did for the Jets.

Though, to be fair, I suspect Mike Williams will catch enough balls to beat both of them tonight for the Titans. He only needs 107.

You leave out Houshmanzadeh. Here's why. First of all, the guy's team loses 9 games. Welker's team lost NONE, so you'd obviously make a pretty cut and dry case that WW's catches were FAR more important. And look at the final scoring drive for Cinci in today's Miami game. Its pretty funny. Kindof sums up the Bengals meaningless season. Theyre up 35-17 in the 4th quarter. Pretty comfortable lead in a meaningless game. Houshmanzadeh catches, oh what do you know, FIVE passes for 31yds. One of the catches was for -1yds and another was for 2 yds. The drive resulted in a FG that put Cinci up 38-17 with under 3 minutes left in the game and the catches tied Welker for the league lead. The catch that tied Welker's mark was a 2 yard catch on SECOND DOWN AND THREE. On 3rd and 1, they went to him again, but it was incomplete. A catch would have passed Welker. Now, I couldnt really care less, but is that some funny stuff or what??

why would u leave him out?

over 1275 yards and has 16 TDs

it was fair..Welker did not deserve to go in over any of those guys and that just goes to show how good they were.

1st among WR's, 3rd overall behind Westbrook and Tomlinson.

What? I said, WHAT?

RussFrancis, you have lost your mind. If you're going to use FLAKEY logic like how important the catches are based upon the team's record, why not calculate how unimportant they were on a Randy Moss team?

I mean, come on, what the hell kind of logic is that? This is about stats, not about who played for whom. Who scored more points and who caught more yardage, etc. is all that matters.

First, those #s are cited for Housh in that game were a little off. I meant to identify them as the 5 catches he had on the final scoring drive. Anyway.

But you think Houshmanzadeh was a more valuable and more significant player to his team this year than Welker? Seriously? I was only referencing those TJ #s because I found them hilarious that leading the league in catches was obviously that important to either him or that team. But in real and somewhat intangible football terms, as far as who had the better and more significant year, its Welker over Housh here and its not close, imo. All that guy had were #s. Welker played a HUGE part in making this New England offense virtually indefensible. Im not sure what angle you were taking there with your logic.

The Pro Bowl is garbage, but that being said, when was the last time a guy was either first or second in receptions (at the time of the voting), and DIDN'T make the Pro Bowl. Bottom line, Welker got screwed and deserved to be in.

That's silly. Housh's catches meant less because the Bengals suck at everything besides WR. Considering they still won 7 games (i.e. bad but not horrible) pretty much with their passing game alone it's pretty stupid to say his contributions weren't important.

Chad Johnson should've went ahead of Housh anyways and they should have more than 4 WRs.

We'll agree to disagree. But you think Johnson should be a Pro Bowler? For what? For pouting all season during losses? For breaking out Hall of Fame Jackets after TDs? For getting all over his QB after miscommunications that lead to picks? For contributing to big wins? Or for none of the above?

Like I said, Welker is a Pro Bowler this year. He should be. Guys that get worthless stats on bad teams shouldnt be rewarded with trips to Hawaii. Guys that contribute to undefeated seasons and all time records should.
